Chapter 1: Family
Life isn’t easy for anyone. Whether you’re an average citizen, or a leader of a country. It’s something that everyone should know. Something that John Myers, the son of Eric Myers and Taylor Earheart learned when he was 7 years old. His life started like any other person’s life. He had friends, and went to a nice school. He thought he had the best parents in the world. He thought that nothing could go wrong.
2011:
John and Eric were outside in their backyard, playing football.
“Well, your mother and Tara won’t be back for a few days. What else do you want to do?†Eric asked his son.
“I don’t know, maybe we can go out for pizza!â€
Then, Eric’s cell phone rang.
“Hello? Okay, I’ll be there. Sorry, John. There’s trouble at Retro City. Come on, I’ll drop you off next door.â€
“Aw, man.â€
“Don’t worry, when this is over, we’ll go out for ice cream.â€
Eric dropped his son off at their next-door neighbor’s house, the Graysons.
“Bye, son.â€
Eric drove off. John just sighed and walked in.
“Hi John!†said Will, John’s friend.
“Hey Will.â€
“Want to play video games or something?â€
“Sure. I call player one!â€
As the two were walking to Will’s room, John suddenly stopped. He felt really, weird, like something was wrong.
“John? Are you coming?†Will asked.
“Uh, yeah. I’m coming.â€
The two went inside and turned on the TV to the news.
“…And as you can see, not even the Crystal Rangers and the Silver Guardians-“
Will changed the channel right away.
“Let’s… just forget about this.†Will said to John.

About fifteen minutes later, the phone rang. Will ran downstairs and picked up the phone.
“Hello? John, it’s your mom.â€
“Hello?â€
“John, I… I have very bad news.†Said Taylor.
“What is it, Mom?â€
“Your father… your father’s…. in Retro City, when he was fighting a villain named Fog… well, he was outnumbered, and weak, and then Fog… killed him.†Taylor said, trying to hold back tears.
“What? No, he can’t be! HE’S NOT DEAD!†John yelled.
“He can’t be…â€
“I’m sorry, John. Tara and I am coming back to pick you up.â€
John couldn’t believe it. Eric Myers, One of the greatest rangers ever, and his father, was
dead. He thought that he would have the greatest day of his life, but now, his father is gone.
“John, I’m really sorry.†Will said.

A week has passed after his funeral. John didn’t want to do anything. He wanted everything to stop. He wanted this nightmare to end. John was just sitting on his bed, when someone knocked on the door.
“Who is it?â€
“It’s me, Tara.†Tara, John’s 9-year old sister, walked in.
“I’ve noticed a lot of things about you for the past few days. Does it have anything to do with Dad?â€
“Well, yeah. I can’t believe he’s gone. He helped us, raised us, and he was one of the greatest Power Rangers ever.â€
“I know. He was the best father a child could ask for. I just wish that he didn’t die this early in our lives.â€
“I think that it’s unfair.â€
“John, things like this will happen in life, but we have to learn to move on.â€
“That’s really hard. He’s been with us since we were born.â€
“I know, and I miss him as much as you, but you can’t live like this forever. Do you feel even a little better?â€
“Yeah, I kinda do. Thanks.â€
*One Week Later*
“Hey Mom, we have to make a family tree for school. Do we have an album or something?†John asked.
“Yeah, it should be in one of the drawers in my room,†Taylor replied.
“Thanks Mom!â€
John went upstairs and into her mother’s room and opened one of the drawers, and saw an album book. He picked it up and opened it. In it, he saw many pictures of Eric, Taylor, Tara, and himself, but on the last page, there was one picture that caught his eye. It had Eric and Taylor, and Tara and John when they were babies, but there was a fifth person. He was boy about two years older than John, but he didn’t recognize him.
“Maybe Tara knows who he is.â€
John walked over to Tara’s room.
“Tara, I need some help.â€
“Did you drop your Game Guy down the toilet again?†she asked.
“No. Do you know who he is?†John asked, handing Tara the picture.
“That’s weird. I have know idea who he is, but I’m guessing that Mom knows.â€
“Mom knows what?†Taylor said, who just entered Tara’s room.
“Mom, can you tell us who this is?†Tara asked.
“He’s your older brother Matt.â€
“Older brother? Why didn’t you tell us about him?†asked Tara.
“He had very special powers. Years ago, he somehow caught the house on fire. We found out that he had pyrokinesis. We were afraid that everyone would think that he was a freak, so we found out about SPD, and he enrolled him there. We always try to visit him there, but it doesn’t seem like that he wants to talk to us.â€
“But you still didn’t tell us why you didn’t tell us.†John said.
“We didn’t know how you would react, say or feel. Your father and I would always argue whether we should tell you or not.â€
“Well, at least we know now.†Tara said.
“When do you think we’ll see him?†John asked.
“I don’t know, but I know that I’ll happen one day. Would some ice cream cones make you feel better?â€

“Wow, that was some good ice cream!†said John.
The family didn’t know that they were being watched.
“Ah, the Quantum Ranger’s family. Battlings, attack!â€
Battlings appeared around the three. Everyone else ran away. Tara ad John were terrified. Two Battlings ran to Taylor holing their swords, but Taylor kicked both of them. She began to fight them off, when two of them grabbed Tara. The other Battlings ran off.
“Tara! John, stay at a safe spot.â€
“But I want to come!â€
“Stay here!â€
Taylor ran off, and John was all alone.
“What now?â€
Then, a circle of Battlings appeared around John. He became even more terrified. But something unexpected happened. Someone jumped up, and slashed the Battlings with his sword. He was wearing a Quantum Ranger suit.
“Quantum Defender!†He shouted. He got his sword and spun around, hitting many Battlings. But four of the Battlings had a huge flamethrower. One of them pulled the trigger, and there was fire everywhere. The Quantum Ranger ran to John and grabbed him, protecting John from the flames.
“Don’t worry, you’ll be all right.†aid.
When they stopped, the Quantum Ranger got his Quantum Defender and shot the remaining Battlings.
“Your mother’s coming now. You’re safe now.,†he told John. The ranger ran off.
“Who was that?â€
It wasn’t anyone he knew. It could’ve been his father. He could be alive.
‘No,’ thought John, ‘it couldn’t be. But John had a feeling that soon, he would find out who he is. Taylor and Tara found John.
“John, are you alright?†his mother asked.
“Yeah, I am.†John said, smiling.

Just letting you know, the next chapter will take place about 8 or 9 years later.
