Just revisited Vagrant Story after a solid decade away, and wow, it holds up as one of the most unique RPG experiences of all time. The blend of tactical battle mechanics with a captivating, if somewhat convoluted, narrative is simply brilliant. The art direction still leaves me in awe; I forgot how beautifully crafted the environments are, and they really create this dark, immersive world. Plus, that soundtrack by Masaharu Iwata is just hauntingly perfect! I want to hear what you all think, why do you think Vagrant Story hasn't gotten the recognition it deserves compared to other classics?

The tactical combat is definitely a standout feature, and I appreciate how it demands strategy over just button mashing. But the convoluted narrative can be a bit much; I found myself lost at times, which detracted from my enjoyment. Still, that art direction is something else, and the atmosphere really sets it apart from other RPGs.
