The Sinestro Corp Saga

HAH! As huge a Kyle fan as I am (all other comic book characters can Die as far as I'm concerned so long as I have my Kyle Rayner and Metal Men) I've been rocking this Hard-Core. I was also driving Derek crazy weeks ago when the special hit. "READ IT YET?""READ IT YET?""READ IT YET?""READ IT YET?""READ IT YET?""READ IT YET?"

Unfortunetly I don't like johns writing. The man can't start a story without first retconning something, and making ION a seperate being not only takes away from Kyles coolness but doesn't make sense given the fact that Kyle's become ION twice with two seperate origins.

As for the Parralex entity, it's got Kyle ensared NOW, but history has shown that the MORE power you give to Kyle the more stable and capable he becomes. If Johns has ANY interest in keeping with the character than it'll only be a matter of issues before Kyle officially lays the spiritual beat-down On parrelax and reassumes control.

Also Keith, good to see your now reading the best story currently in comics!!!

Hey, what's this about ION having two seperate origins?

I just got back in and I have to say I REALLY miss Kyle being a Green Lantern. :(

Basiclly it goes like this in Issue #148 of Green LAntern (Kyles run) Kyle absorbed all the Power of the Green Lanterns that was still in the Sun after Hal Jordan-Parralax had died re-igniting it turning him into ION. He had all the powers of god....could exist in multiple places in the universe at once doing his job as GL along with a lot of other scary powerful stuff....and was handling it fine, but superman pulled him aside and said you doing too much....so Kyle first toyed with the idea of going back and never being GL, then he toyed with the idea of preventing the destruction of coast city so that Hal never went crazy...and the scary thing is he was so powerful he COULD change these thing and NOT cause a butterfly effect, but in the end He decided to use the power to Re-ignite the central battery and bring all the Gaurdians back from the dead, he also crafted the perfect lantern ring at the same time (DNA encoded to him, came when called and had no time limit) and went back to being GL.

During Rann-Thangar War Jade died (thank you Primus) and gave her power back to Kyle (Which was power he had restored to her during his first time as ION) and he became ION again this time by absorbing Jades powers of the Starheart (The source of power for the Original Green Lantern Alan Scott) This form of ION was significantly less powerful but still WAY stronger than a Green Lantern, but because DC likes to bitch-slap Kyle around as much as they can AND because Johns was prepping Sinestro Corps Kyles 12 issue mini-series was more a launching platform for Sinestro Corps than it was for Kyle himself.

So there you have two seperate Origins.

What DOESN'T make sense is WHEN Kyle picked up this new "ION Entity" the only place it makes sense is when he became ION the first time, but that Means ION was also possessing Hal Jordan which apparently....The Parralex Entity did nothing about and didn't seem to notice?

Course it all works out much better if you realize that Geoff Johns is simply a horrible writer and his Retcons just make a bigger mess of continuity than they were supposed to fix.

*blows low whistle*

Thanks for the re-cap, Trev. Indeed...sounds like they haven't been treating my boy Kyle right in my absense. I was pretty disappointed to see him as ION and not a Green Lantern.

Seeing Hal back is pretty.... boring. He just has no personality. :P

The latest in the saga was sold out at my comic shop. :disappoin

i just reread several issues of the current series, man the writer loves retconning , for crying out loud, the lost lanterns arc pretty much annihilated the entire point of emerald twilight

I'm definetly enjoying the ride as it lasts. I figured that Kyle was going to be "turned" :redface2: , so to speak, but the biggest thing I'm curious about is Superboy Prime... :eyebrow:

I love Kyle why do this Johns, you are a pretty good writer I mean look at JSA, I know you love Hal and all but the other Green laterns are more well fun. Guy's a hothead, Stewart's Just cool, and Kyle is Peter Parker as a Green Lantern these guy to me the definitive Green lanterns because it's not all about you HAL. Then there's Kilowog, Tomar-re, Chi'p. Ganark, Katma-tui and so many others. Hal can come off as a bit bland next to these guys. Hell Mogo and the F-sharp bell just should make you love Green Lantern.

The problem with Hal is he's just so......SIlver Age.

My local Comic owner (A guy who has been around in the fandom for a lot longer than any of us) thinks that this story was Johns ultimate goal when he became a comic writer, and that to tell the story he had planned since a kid he first had to get everything BACK to the way it used to be...and I can agree with that.

Also according to Diamond previews, the little Emo boy is now going by "Superman Prime"
