In the most recent issue of Punisher War Journal, he gets back to NYC in time for the evacuation. He stops to pick up some new weapons and then works to help the remainder of people in the city out via the staten island ferry.
We get a scene where Mung the Monster issues a challenge to Frank which Frank accepts. Then Frank's supergenius buddy creates a "synthiote smart armor" based on venom, that pours out over Frank from the chestplate.
So there's punisher in a venom-like nanosuit, looking like Skullman, fighting a monster with six muscular arms. The suit rebuilds itself slowly after every hit, but Frank still wins. He rips off two of the six arms, blinds the creature and then lobotomizes it with a gun that shoots swords.
In other words, this was awesome.
