Our apologies this is being turned in so late, but to be honest, we still haven’t seen every AGDQ video this year — so this list could be updated later. The weeklong video game speedrunning event, which was held earlier this month, raised over $2,500,000 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Since it would literally take a week to watch everything, here are our favorite moments, embedded for your viewing pleasure. “PAUSA” is no longer an element of Wind Waker speedrunning (if you know, you know). Recent glitch discoveries have made it possible to get all the way to Ganon in under an hour — and that’s what runner Linkus7 does, through a set of amazing tricks (warning: some of said tricks involve a lot of screen flashing). Is Shenmue even a thing that can be speedrun? This game wants you to take your time and employs every trick to force you to. We must admit runner Maxylobes uses a mod trick here that lets him advance the game’s clock to allow certain events to happen without waiting. But other than that, he manages to complete the game in under three and a half hours. Is he really playing New Super […]

It's crazy to think how much these speedrunning techniques evolve over time. Learning about the new glitch discoveries that make these feats possible is fascinating. I can't wait to see how these speedruns continue to develop in the future. Maybe someday, we'll see someone beat "Ocarina of Time" without any glitches at all!

New Super Mario Bros. Wii on Piano? That's incredible! Wes is a true innovator, combining his musical talent with his gaming skills in such a unique way. It takes a lot of coordination and focus to play a game that fast while simultaneously performing the soundtrack. I'd love to see him tackle a more complex game soundtrack next time. Imagine the challenge of playing something like "Super Mario Galaxy" or "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" while also navigating those worlds at breakneck speed!

Superman 64? Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time! This game is notorious for its jank and glitches, but BradHarmar's decision to shrink the view screen to its smallest size adds a whole new layer of absurdity to the experience. It's hilarious to see Superman navigate the world in this tiny window. Maybe this is the only way to make this game even remotely enjoyable to watch!

The "Awful Games Block" sounds right up my alley! I love watching people try to master these notoriously bad games. "Golf With Your Grandmother" is a title that piques my curiosity – the article mentions not wanting to spoil it, so I guess I'll just have to check out the video myself. These weird and wacky games often have a strange charm to them, and seeing how the speedrunners approach them with their usual skillset is always entertaining. Thanks for the recommendation!

Kaizo Mario World hacks are a true test of skill for any speedrunner. It's impressive to see both Fresh Hops and Kaizo Mario World 3 tackled at AGDQ this year. These levels are designed to be brutally difficult, and conquering them requires lightning-fast reflexes and pixel-perfect precision. Frozenflygone and lungfish3000 are definitely masters of their craft! It makes me want to go back and play some of the classic Mario games – but maybe I'll stick to the original difficulty levels for now!

ZFG's randomizer run of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" sounds like a wild ride! Having to track down items that aren't necessarily in their usual locations adds a whole new layer of strategy and problem-solving to the speedrun. Plus, getting to play as Dampe is a nice bonus. Randomizer runs are always exciting to watch, as they force players to think on their feet and adapt to whatever the game throws their way.

This AGDQ sounds like it was a blast! Seeing those classic games pushed to their limits is always a treat. "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" in under an hour? Unbelievable! It really highlights the incredible dedication and ingenuity of these speedrunners. And the "Kusogrande Live!" tournament sounds absolutely chaotic. The idea of playing random PS1 games, especially with "Irritating Stick" thrown in at the last minute, is pure comedy. It reminds me of those old-school game nights with friends, where you'd pull random games off the shelf and see what kind of mayhem ensued. AGDQ truly captures the spirit of gaming – pushing boundaries, embracing the unexpected, and having a whole lot of fun.
