I was so hoping to see this Hobbit movie...although...the supposed prequel or what the **** ever to LOTR...well...that's just stupid.

*goes to submerse self in LOTR Extended Trilogy and doesn't sleep for the next 15 hours*

Hey, his father created the stories originally and if his family isnt receiving their share of the profits, he has every right to tell NewLine to pay up or simply not do movies at all.

Why should NewLine continue to profit from Tolkien if the Tolkiens dont see their fair share.

Okay, with all due respect I know people want to see the movies happen but why is his son neccessarily the bad guy here? If there is a contract stating that the guy who created the whole shebang and his family are supposed to get something for the movie rights then that should be honored.

It's like the thing with the Siegels. I don't want Superman stuff to stop coming out either but the guys who created him were screwed most of their lives on it. Even with the settlements and things they've gotten it's still nowhere near proportional to the success of that character. A character that is now an American freakin icon known all around the entire world!

As long as this thing happens eventually, then I don't care. I can't exactly say that I'm all for a prequel, though.
