The Flood Movie Review

This movie doesnt click for me! One of the biggest drawbacks of The Flood was its lackluster special effects. Both the alligators and the CGI storm outside suffered from a lack of realism, which made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the movie. While I understand the emphasis on the human element, the execution fell short, resulting in generic conflicts and one-dimensional villains. It's a shame because the potential for intense, heart-pounding encounters was there.

The Flood had some bright moments. Sheriff Jo Newman, played by Nicky Whelan, was a strong female character in a testosterone-driven society because of her physical strength and aggressive demeanor. Casper Van Dien's performance as cop killer Russell Cody was similarly nuanced. Their performances brought much-needed weight to an otherwise flat film. It's just a shame that their abilities weren't enough to keep The Flood from drowning in its own narrative complexities.

The Flood had all the ingredients for an adrenaline-pumping ride: man-eating alligators, cops, prisoners, and a raging hurricane. Yet, the film failed to capitalize on its own potential. Instead of delivering non-stop action and suspense, it got bogged down in unnecessary subplots that detracted from the main storyline. It was disheartening to see the alligators take a backseat for most of the movie when they should have been the main attraction.
