The first Kamen Rider series

Aoi Kurenai

Mad Skillz
I've got access to the first 65 episodes or so and from people that have seen the entire series (I've only seen 15 episodes), what are the top ten episodes from the first 65 for a person to watch?

I assume you mean the first Kamen Rider and not Goranger or Robocon. :D

Probably the best ones to go with are the team up episodes (#40~41, 49, 51~52) and the major plot ones (#1, 13, 14~15, 26, 39, 53, 61) cuz picking my actual favorites would...take a while.

That I did. *edits*

Would you mind listening your actual favorites? Stuff you like is usually pretty good.

And, the evil rider episodes wouldn't happen to be anywhere in the first 65 would they?

I think the first several episodes with Fujioka are essential Rider viewing, IMO. The ones where he's dubbed over and/or missing altogether while Toei scrambled to figure out what to do after his injury, however, are a bit useless.

16 & 17 -- You should also check his debut if you haven't, but I found this two-parter to be fun, even if a little hokey. I feel it's a "getting to know Hayato" and the way he operates, opposed to the stonefaced Hongou. The new Rider's here to stay, and he'll take you to the mat to p

26 - The best original Rider villain ever -- Zol -- arrives. His last episode, 39, was also pretty cool.

41 & 42 - The brainwashing of Hongo and later Tachibana.

43 - A pretty fun episode involving Hayato being setup for a murder.

I'm sure there's more -- I just can't recall them because it's a blur, but these are ones that stuck out to me within the first 65 (I may have gotten some numbers wrong). There's quite a few cool ones from later on, mostly involving the return of Hayato...after seeing the entire first series, Hayato became my all-time favorite '70s Rider, Sasaki becomes that cool and crucial to the series. Hell, to the franchise, even. I think the series really loses footing once they squeeze Fujioka back in, it should have just ended with his return to help somewhere in the sixties...

Because I think there should be a rule that tokusatsu shows should never run past the 50-some episode mark unless they're magical like Agito. As much as I like Kamen Rider and Goranger, they went on for far too long and would have both benefited from being cut back.

It's hard to pick, the original Rider is the one show where I honestly love every episode. There's really no episode of the first Rider I don't like, which amazes even me considering it ran for so long. But I think the fact that it came first gave it an edge- if any of the others had gone on for that long, they would've lost it along the way, but I think the original show is solid start to finish.

If I have to narrow it down to just 10, out of the first 65, it would be these:

#1: Like this wasn't going to make the list.

#6 & 7: The first two-part story, it's almost like a mini-movie and has Fujioka at his best.

#18: Possibly my favorite of the early Rider 2 episodes, plenty of action and craziness, plus an ironic twist at the end.

#26: Debut of Colonel Zol, who does indeed rock.

#36: Shocker revives an ancient mummy for their monster-of-the-week, only to realize they have no idea what he's saying. Whoever says the old Rider shows didn't deal with real world problems is smoking crack or something.

#39: Best. Christmas. Episode. Ever. Also, Nazis getting killed!

#45: Doctor Shinigami is creepy as hell, and it has a really classic ending fight. It's so tough to choose from the Shinigami episodes, he totally steals the show in each one.

#51: Of all the Double Rider episodes in the first half of the series, this one's probably my favorite.

#61: After being gone since #52, Shinigami comes back, and he's badder than ever.

And, the evil rider episodes wouldn't happen to be anywhere in the first 65 would they?

Not until #92~94 (and all of those are my among favorite episodes out of the whole series.) But as Shougo mentioned, the first Rider vs. Rider fight ever is in #41.
