High Octane Pictures is bringing the sci-fi horror cautionary tale The Alpha Test to DVD and digital next month. This is one of those stories where a robot goes mad and starts killing people, but in this case…it’s the kind of circumstance where you can’t blame the robot at all.
A domestic family brings the latest home-tech craze, the Alpha Home Assistant, home and boots it up. The AHA will do whatever you tell it to, including most household chores. If it does something you DON’T want it to, a little gentle persuasion like a spritz of water will tell it to avoid that action in the future, much like a dog.
The keyword here is gentle, and nobody in this family read the part of the manual (if it came with a manual….they probably expected you to download a PDF from their website, and no one does that). The robot takes constant abuse day after day. They kick it, they whack it in the face, they throw it around.
