PARTY HARD
Okay, anyone a "Tales of" fan here? I'm sure there are quite a few. While this RP will not make it to HJU (I regret to say...), it HAS been in the works for MONTHS now. WHy? Because the "Tales of" series is one of the only series I can think of that has plots that I can't incorporate something new into, much like Final Fantasy. Even though I'm using most of the characters from all of the "Tales of" games, I can't seem to come up with something that intertwines them all together...
Huh? Why am I using all the characters from the "Tales of" series? Well...if you look at the title, it's a play off of "Tales of VS," a sort of fighting game in which you play different characters from each "Tales of" game in a world they all coexist. Sort of like...Super Smash Bros.?...No, bad example. lol
But..here, this is a good example:
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gcz8-jMVPBs&feature=related[/ame]
This is the actual opening of the game (GIRL NEXT DOOR - "Be Your Wings). Quality kind of sucks, but it's the best that I can find. Anyway...it's a new original world. No Exspheres. No Blastia. No...um...Eres. No Fonons or anything. That's the kind of RP I'm trying to make. An all original world with original stuff using the original characters from the games (meaning no made-up characters). This image also helped inspire me to make the RP.
However, the fun thing is that, these original characters are not the same as you remember them from the games. They're all different, different up bringings, different personalities, but the same basic structure.
The problem with making this RP is the ties that bring the story to light. In Abyss, it was Fonons. In Legendia (ugh), it was Eres. In Phantasia and Symphonia, it was Mana. In Vesperia, it was Aer and Blastia. In Rebirth, it was Force. After that, I dunno what works in Eternia and Destiny (1 and 2).
If I could figure out how to connect the individual pieces of the story together, it would really help. Because characters are a given, all I have to do is make the story and places. But I dunno how because that certain element that brings the other games in their respective worlds together won't come to me. So far, this is what I have on the story:
The most notable use of references to the games are the Kingdoms and calendar.
The Calendar uses the 8 centurions from Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World/Ratatosk Knights, using four of them to make the seasons and the other four to make 3 months each for a total of 12 months in a year. The Seasons split the 12 months into cycles, numbering the order the cycle months in order of when the season begins. For example, Uno Tenebrae (Centurion of Darkness) represents our December as the first month Glacies, or Winter, begins. But since it represents December, it is the end of the year, and Dos Tenebrae (January) marks the month of the new year.
The Kingdoms are nods to those who played some of the Tales of Games. Everyone who's played Tales of the Abyss remembers Sur Granda's Kimlasca and Malkuth kingdoms. Tales of Vesperia and Legendia also come back in Deres Illios with the Zaphias Kingdom (Yuri's hometown) and the (Holy) Kingdom of Gadoria (Chloe's hometown). Seinegald is from Tales of Destiny, and Karegia is from Tales of Rebirth. At first, I made up the Kingdoms, but since I threw in Kimlasca, Malkuth, and Zaphias in there, just throw in every Kingdom I can find. lol
So, aside from the five main continents and the calendar, I don't have anything else to work with. These were originally the candidates to set the story in motion:
Nijiri - Fully named, Niji Tsugari (Rainbow Link), a set of Rings known as "Sorcerer Rings" that each contain one element: Fire, Water, Thunder, Wind, Earth, Ice, Light, and Dark. They are ancient and powerful objects, with one of each existing in the world. If the Nijiri were brought together, they would unleash an unknown, but tremendous power that can create stars and destroy planets. The problem was that I needed to find something that FUELS them, like Mana or Aer. So this idea got scrapped, though I REALLY want to use this.
Cellutites - Jewels that are considered "drugs" of Gran Therrena. It amplifies one's strength by giving it a sort of life-force, but in return it drains twice the amount that it gave. However, the power it gives is very addicting, as it warps the mind by also releasing a toxin into the brain called "Mistic" (a play on "mist" and "mystic"). Because they literally attach to the host's body, it's considered a parasite. This was supposed to be an antagonistic concept for the story, but like the Nijira, I couldn't come up with a way that fuels them, as well as figure out how the Cellutites give strength and drain life. It was a half-assed concept that I couldn't think through properly...
The main problem was the force in the story that gives the world its power to do spells and such. Like, something that everyone works with in their daily life and deems it very important, like Mana and Blastia (the latter which is fueled by Aer). Without a proper medium, I can't make the story.
So please, as a fellow roleplayer, I ask for help to find that missing important piece of the puzzle!
Also, concept titles included "Tales of Infinitia," "Tales of Unity," and "Tales of Freedom".

Tales of (Name to be Added)
Gran Therrena
A world with five main continents and five kingdoms that govern the world. The continents are Sur Granda, Nord Nocturne, Deres Illios, Est Tiven, and the hidden continent "Core".
Sur Granda
Sur Granda is one of Gran Therrena's biggest continents and thus has two kingdoms, ruled by the Kingdom of Kimlasca and the Kingdom of Malkuth.
Nord Nocturne
Nord Nocturne is known as the Shrine of Celcius, dedicated to one of the gods of Gran Therrena, as half of it is located in the northern-most regions of Gran Therrena. The Kingdom of Karegia, as well as the "battle city" Capitolos Nocturne is located here.
Est Tiven
A very mountainous region that seems to rain most of the year. It stops raining after three to four months, then continues to rain for months to come. It is because of this that those living in Est Tiven have become so adept with the weather and take advantage of it for crops. The one part of Est Tiven that never rains is the Gradia Desert, where the capital of the Kingdom of Seinegald resides.
Deres Illios
A continent that allies itself with Sur Granda, connected across the ocean known as the "Leviathan Bridge," it is well known for the creation of guilds that allow the people of Gran Therrena to work together. Known as the "Land of Gatherings," the combined Kingdom of Zaphias and Kingdom of Gadoria oversees the gathering of Therrenans to form guilds together.
Core
Pronounced "COH-reh," also known as the Centro Continent, it is a hidden continent located somewhere on Gran Therrena that only the royal families of each Kingdom go to for their meetings of peace. However, a heavily-guarded secret is buried deep within this hidden continent.
Calendar:
Season of Glacies (Winter) -
Uno Tenebrae (December), Dos Tenebrae (January), Tres Tenebrae (February)
Season of Lumen (Spring) - Un Aqua (March), Dos Aqua (April), Tres Aqua (May)
Season of Ignis (Summer) - Uno Solum (June), Dos Solum (July), Tres Solum (August)
Season of Ventus (Autumn) - Uno Tonitrus (September), Dos Tonitrus (October), Tres Tonitrus (November)
