Wow, to think that I just downloaded the whole series, and hearing there's a DVD release. Man, gotta hold back first.

@okunohoshimichi : The opening kinda shows that Saban has been adapting the series lazily. The first 5 episode I watched has nothing showing about the Optimus Prime or Servo's armor becoming another robot.

It's funny that Gridman did not combine with other mecha until the middle of the original series, whereas in Saban version almost all the super modes and weapons made their appearance in the first five episodes.

Despite Gridman only had 39 episodes, SHSS managed to have 50+ episodes. Kinda amazing.

Btw, the Japanese series will also be re-released in individual DVDs on January along with the new Thunder Gridman figure (*Gridman is sold separately).

I would say not at all. While the mecha was given earlier on, it still followed the story of Gridman.

I like how the Japanese community praise this show as A masterpiece went waaay ahead of its time (時代を先取りしすぎた名作」) since windows 95 and other 32-bit operating systems were barely in development by the time. It would have done better if it came out on the 21st century.

There is no Saban version. Superhuman Samurai SyberSquad was made by DiC.
