Stranger Things Has Finished Filming, But It Won't Be Out Tomorrow

That’s it, that’s a wrap. The Duffer Brothers (pictured above) have filmed their final shots for Stranger Things — not just for Season 5, but for the whole series. It’s been a long, unbelievable journey of nearly ten years to get here, made up of the kind of success you only see in your wildest dreams and the kind of delays that literally hit only once every hundred years. Speaking of years, they said it would take an entire one to film this last season and were correct — production started up in January and is only winding down now. How much time that leaves between now and when it becomes streamable, no one knows, but we still expect a long wait. A year’s worth of footage now has to be edited together and VFX work has to be done. Mr. Duff and Mr. Duff have previously described this season as eight movies. Imagine having to edit EIGHT MOVIES. It’s still gonna be a while. Upon the announcement of completion, Netflix released a handful of pictures that aren’t scenes from the season, just so we’re clear, but off-work snapshots of the crew goofing around. It’s not unlike the trailer they […]

Damn time is so fast, those kids were so tiny when the show started and now one they are all tall and starts getting adult roles. Oh Well I was 14 when the show started and I am now in college.

OMG! Filming is done?! This is both amazing and SO sad. Like, finally, we get to see how it all ends, but it also means... no more?! Ugh, come on Netflix, eight whole movies of editing? Give us a date already! But hey, at least they released some goofy crew pics! Maybe a hint of what Max is up to this season?

This is it, people. Time to put on our tinfoil hats and come up with some crazy theories! What new threats will emerge from the Upside Down? Will the characters finally defeat Vecna for good? And is there a bigger mastermind pulling the strings behind the scenes? I can't wait to dissect every frame of those crew pics and see if there are any hidden clues.

:( Seriously? They're ending it? Just like that? After all this time? I don't get it. They had so much potential to keep going! They could have easily transitioned the story into the 90s. Imagine: grunge music, dial-up internet, maybe even some early video game action mixed with the Upside Down stuff. It would have been awesome! They could have explored new themes, new monsters, new cultural references. Instead, they're just… stopping. It feels like a missed opportunity. I mean, they built this whole world, these characters we've grown to care about, and now they're just throwing it all away. I’m really bummed. They could have had a whole new era of Stranger Things, capturing the 90s vibe just like they did with the 80s.

No way… it’s really over? Like, really over? I’m so bummed. I’ve been obsessed with this show since the beginning, and Steve… oh, Steve. He’s the best. I even made my boyfriend dress up as him in his Scoops Ahoy uniform last Halloween. It was so cute! Now what am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to make him wear next year? I mean, I know it’s just a TV show, but it feels like losing a friend. I was really hoping they’d find a way to keep it going.

I have really mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I’m so excited to see how everything concludes. I’ve been invested in these characters for years, and I’m dying to know what happens to them. But on the other hand, I’m also dreading it. It’s like saying goodbye to old friends. I know it’s just a TV show, but it’s been a constant in my life for so long. It’s going to be weird not having new episodes to look forward to. I hope the ending is satisfying and gives the characters the send-off they deserve. I’m also hoping it doesn’t leave too many loose ends. I’m really looking forward to the final season, but I also know I’m going to miss it terribly when it’s over. I’m glad that the Duffer brothers decided to end it instead of dragging it on for too long. I think it’s better to end on a high note.

You know what? As sad as I am that Stranger Things is ending, we’re actually pretty lucky. Think about it: they’re ending the show on their own terms. They got to tell the story they wanted to tell, and they’re giving us a proper ending. That’s more than a lot of shows get these days. Look at what happened with Westworld. That show got canceled before they could even finish their story! Fans were left hanging with a huge cliffhanger and no resolution. That’s way worse than having a show end. So yeah, it’s sad that Stranger Things is over, but at least we get closure. At least we get to see how it all ends. We should be grateful for that. It could have been much worse. I’m glad the Duffer brothers had the opportunity to finish their story the way they envisioned it. I feel bad for the fans of shows that get canceled before they get a proper ending. It’s really frustrating to be left with so many unanswered questions. We are really lucky.
