well, lately i have been on a site call scottpilgrim.ning.com, and after reading vol.4, everyone was talking about the new twin exes, the uncouth relationship of scott and ramona-
...... one character has been getting the raw deal and been screwed royally since volume one, and no one seems to care.
young neil.
poor guy got dumped by the scott-obsessed knives and she called him a loser idiot. she doesn't even get the neil young reference in his name! (damned Young Kids!) honestly i think neil should have the chance to step up on the barking order. Maybe Mr. Chau and he could could randomly meet by chance, and he could secretly teach him swordsmanship, or better yet, he could get or find a power-up item himself! like he could stumble onto an old-school power glove to fight with, and actually be able to hold his own against tough guys!
oooh, this makes me want to draw things.... TO THE DRAFTING DESK!
thought about it, and i was going to do a gaiden or sidestory for neil, maybe some kinda parallel thing like triplea's scoot p. graham, for young neil. i have this nice character i made for him and nothing to do with it, so i thing this'll be nice once i sit down and do it. i know my art isn't that good yet, and i don't have a tablet pen anymore, so i may need help with coloring things because i suck hot donkey balls with coloring with markers and color pencils and paint. but i will do it nonetheless, with a fan-suggested playlist, and awesome video game refences galore and villians and familiar faces and everthing! and maybe even....... love. maybe, but because my kinda love might be cheesy and stagnant.
but if i start it, will you guys read it? give me your honest opinion.
here's the first one i did:
this is my young neil. it came to me one day talking about him being a "bottom of the rung" character in the scott pilgrim circle of friends. i gave him this awesome power glove as a tool for fighting. why? well think about it; the power glove is arguably the most frustrating perihpiral in the history of gaming; maybe a person wth the right amount of anger may be able to tame and harness the power of the glove.
i think he looks pretty cool, although this drawing is horribly rough. i gave him a list of moves as well, and i gave him a drawback to it all, as to not make him a walking deus ex machina; when he uses the glove, he only has 25 minute time limit to kick some major ass, as the glove feeds on his emotions. after using it to its fullest potential, his energy is totally zapped, and he has to rest for about two days.
planning. i've created bosses for him, awesome badass rock bosses who have a collaboration band called the Fatal Furies. (ha ha, snk reference. :laugh: )and they are all based on familar rockers and popculture icons we all know and love.
The Fatal Furies:
Gabe drohl:
-based on foo fighters' base grohl
-awesome guitarist and frontman for the band, woo foo warriors
-also awesome drummer
-expert of Savate, French martial art
-drumsticks transform into eskrima stun rods
Adamo De leon` :
- Based on Coheed and Cambria's Claudio Sanchez
- **** awesome guitarist, able to switch from stratocaster to fendercaster during songs.
- has a large possessive head of hair with a life of its own.
- expert of Nova Scrima, an italian martial art, and the rapier.
Lyra:
- based on the WWE's Lita
- former pro wrestler turned punk rocker. she will still kick your ass.
- professes, like all strong women, that a guy not fighting a woman does give him the moral highground, it just makes him look like a pussy.
- possessed by the long dead spirit of wanda o' williamson (based on wendy o. williams of the plasmatics.)
Vin Manishewitz- based on victor wooten and lenny kravitz
- monster of the electric bass guitar, which doubles as a chainsaw.
- touted as very philsophic.
- has developed a fearsome sword style using his guitar.
and the BIG boss, the king of kong:
- obviously steve weibe
- king of the art of oldschool gaming.
- seeks a worthy opponent to slake his savage 8-bit thirst of hardocre competition and rivalry.
- owns a record company that the fatal furies are signed to.
ah, what do you think? that's kinda cool, right?
i've actually drawn them all as a group already, and i'll post the rough sketch later.
i've got more things, planned, and a long ways to go.
i've also got a badass chick called akemi yamamoto who will be watching over neil; she's an asian one-eyed biker chick who was.....(wait for it) a former member of shocker organization and is now a fugitive.
