Spider-Man: Brand New Day -- The Jean Grey Review

Not gonna lie the whole faking a resolution to Spider-Man's biggest emotional wound thing sounds rough. That is psychological manipulation on a different level compared to just punching buildings down. Curious how that plays out onscreen because reading about it already stings a bit for Peter.

The comparison to previous Spider-Man reboots handling Aunt May and MJ differently was a smart way to frame how liberal they got with Jean this time. Every era of these movies reinvents the side characters and it seems like Jean got the most dramatic reinvention out of anyone so far, going from comic book hero to full antagonist for most of the runtime. I do wonder if casual audiences who do not know the comics will even care about this whole redemption debate or if it is mostly us longtime fans overthinking a fun action movie. Either way I am interested to see where they take her in the X-Men movie whenever that actually happens, since Marvel keeps taking forever with their release schedule lately.
