Something I discovered about Toku actors and actresses

admittedly, i haven't caught up with the rest of the PR cast -- it's been one heckuva long time ^^";;;

(also, am agreeing on Kitano Takeshi's showing up on tokusatsu in cameo-- it'd more likely than not be one of a darker-themed ones if he were to do it, i figure...)

What I recently discovered from my friend who has lived in Japan recently for a year, that Toku actors and actresses are highly respected in the japanese society, more respected then actors in some non-toku movies or tv shows. Why? well because they work with children and end up being the heroes of children probably, to play the lead in a major Toku show like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai you have to be the top of the top of actors. Basically she said any job in japan that involves working with young children is a highly respected job and you have to go through so much school and stuff to get there. Basically a toku actor like Mitsuomi Takahashi (BoukenRed) could be as popular and respected in Japan like an actor like Christian Bale over here. Plus its big money too for different companies I'd imagine, because for example if Kagami does a commercial for Diet Pepsi, I'd imagine some kids would be like "Get me Diet Pepsi NOOOOOOOOOOW!!!".

That's surprising, I thought it was quite the opposite. The respect is well deserved though.

I'd hardly consider some of the content of a few KR series kids' shows though. Eh, I guess it's just the culture thing.

Anyway, yeah, they deserve the respect. Some of the acting we see in these series is amazing, and sometimes overshadowed by assumptions taken from the show's genre and other content. Blade, Kabuto and Faiz all had amazing acting (with a few exceptions of course). Shame that several of the actors might be unable to break into other stuff. Although, I keep expecting to see Tendou Souji in American TV >_>

I did not had this idea tbh. In fact, seeing as many toku people became famous and went into dramas and other non-toku stuff, i always seen it as a spotlight ramp of some sort....

But know that it was mentioned, Japan does take care of their kids, so it's only normals that people that work around them and influence their lives are highly respected and looked to!
