Short Haired Kamen Riders

Actually, how many bald Toku heroes have we had? I can only think of Gavan, and that was just for one ep.

Anyway, really short hair seems to be a kind of a 80's and 90's thing in Japan. I wouldn't say they have "long" hair now. Its just that we are used to VERY short hair here in the west.

All the 80 og 90 Riders had short hair

ZX
Black / Black RX
Shin
J
ZO

And as a previous poster said, nothing beats the "manes" of the 70's. During those years, it was not uncommon to see Ainu-Japanese in many lead roles, due to their tallness, large bodies and curly hair.
A guy like Hiroshi Fujioka SCREAMS "manliness". I could never imagine him without his long, thick hair.

I think the main difference is that when we in the west think of "manly," we imagine soldiers with regulation buzz-cuts. When people in Japan think of "manly," they imagine samurais with a topknot and if they lost that then they'd have to commit ritual suicide. So it is different.

I can't stand toku heroes who have hair as long as or longer than the women in the show, but we've never had one of those in Kamen Rider IIRC. Philip had pretty long hair but he was not MagiGreen with bloody waist-length hair that wasn't tied back

Riders have a tendency to change hairstyles as they move forward in their series, and as they move forward in life.
Only Riders with short haircuts I can think of at the moment are Riderman, ZX, Black/RX, Shin, ZO & J. The last 3 I think it's because of the era they were living in, those kind of haircuts were fashionable at the beginning of the 90's.
What I've seen so far during the 70's series, is that some characters start with a short, although not generic, haircut. Takeshi looked like an innocent college student, Hayato had it shorter, Kazuya's was extremely short, Shiro looked as innocent as Takeshi, Tachibana Tobei even had it long at the end of stronger.
To me it has always seemed they're too busy saving the world to go to a barbershop, it's only in some returns that you see them with shorter hair (V3 & Agito for example). Perhaps you could say they finally got a break, though of course the reason is the actor's preference.
Decade may have had short hair at the beginning of the series, though not by the second half, he only has it stylized, look at his DaiShocker haircut, that's long enough to me.

We need a BALD rider!
I support this idea.

Look at Hiroshi at the beginning of Kamen Rider. As I mentioned before, he could still look like an innocent young man.
And as for the short hair, Segata Sanshiro!

Short hair is bad luck for a Rider looks what happens to them!
Black/Black RX - pedophile
J - Only in one movie
Zo - Only in one movie
Shin - Only in one movie AND RIDICULED FOR ETERNITY!!!

You got me with Riderman but at least I still have TWO HANDS!!

It's funny because I'm from the West, you silly British girl, and that's not what most of us here think. :loltongue:

Your definition is your own; it is not the truth.

You may have two hands, but Shin, ZO, and J have movies. You also didn't know that ZO and J appear together in Kamen Rider World. You also admitted to being what you called Black and Black RX.
