Sentai costumes at A-Kon

I've been at A-Kon the last couple of days (and I might go back tomorrow), and today I noticed that there were actually a few people cosplaying as Sentai characters and mecha there...

First off, I saw two guys in Daijuujin and DragonCaesar costumes. They were incredibly detailed and just plain impressive. I actually saw pictures of them somewhere online last night...I didn't realise that the pictures were from A-Kon until I saw them in person! Later, I saw them as they were disassembling their costumes...I talked to them for a bit, and I noticed that there was a TyrannoRanger helmet nearby, although I didn't see anyone in a TyrannoRanger costume earlier.

I also saw a guy cosplaying as HurricaneRed, and his costume was really well done. He had a Hurricane Gyro on his arm, too. There was also a woman in an AbareYellow costume, but she didn't fit the costume at all.

'Tis a shame I don't have a camera...I would've loved to take pictures of them.

Oh...then you must've met up with Corazon Azul from Rangerboard. He was Dragon Caesar/Dragonzord. He was also the designer Megazord/Dairyuujin suit...I think that was his cosplay suit from last year.

Right now...for next year he's considering either RyuuseiOh, Tackle Boy or Time Robo Alpha but didn't decide yet.

I would be even more impressed if they came in as Toku/Sentai characters, not PR characters.

That's my one fear if I ever suit up as a sentai (Zyu on up) senshi and a kid points at me and calls out "Look a Power Ranger".

Hell Fucking No!!!!! If I dress up as a Sentai Senshi, I AM a Sentai Senshi.

Yeah, I know, kids here don't know any better, and that's what I'm upset about. It makes think about the sad fact that in the US, PR is the only thing they know. I'm doing my best to educate kids about the real thing by showing them sentai/toku or at least telling them about it. And if you ask me "what's wrong with PR", I'm not going to argue with you, I don't like the damn thing and I'm a Japanese Toku fan straight up. JC, like I said, I'm not going to start an argument, I'm just letting people know how I feel.

Kid: (seeing me as Dragon Ranger) Look, it's Tommy the Green Ranger.
