…or they will be come July 14. That’s when Netflix just announced the hit anime series, which they have the exclusive on, will return with weekly episodes. Sakamoto Days is about the days of Sakamoto — Taro Sakamoto, once the most skilled and feared assassin in Japan. He had a very successful career, until the day he fell in love and decided to retire from it. Sakamoto now lives in the countryside, operating a mom-and-pop convenience store with his wife and daughter. To say he’s gotten out of shape is an understatement; his pudgy cheeks bounce like a squirrel’s whenever he moves. Try as he might, Sakamoto can’t escape from his past, which begins returning to him the day Shin, another ex-assassin with the ability to read minds, discovers his location. Shin insists he must stay to protect Sakamoto, and one episode later so does Lu, the daughter of a powerful mob boss. BUT…Sakamoto doesn’t seem to need much protecting. In fact it’s often he who saves Shin and Lu. Turns out none of those skills left him after all these years, and he can still dance around with precision despite his portly build. In fact, after the harder battles […]

This is fantastic news! I was really hoping for a second part to the Sakamoto Days anime. The premise is just so unique – a legendary assassin trying to live a normal life but constantly getting pulled back into his old world. The contrast between his current, out-of-shape appearance and his still-lethal skills is hilarious and makes for some really entertaining action sequences. I’m particularly interested to see how they handle the new threat, this group of killers unleashed by Slur. The fact that Sakamoto wants to avoid killing to keep his wife happy adds an extra layer of tension and complexity to the story. I’m already counting down the days until July 14th. I’m definitely going to rewatch the first part to refresh my memory before the new episodes start dropping weekly. This could easily become one of my favorite ongoing anime series.

Honestly, this show is way better than I thought it would be. I thought it was just about a fat guy doing flips. But Sakamoto is actually a cool character, and Shin’s mind-reading adds some funny moments. I'm hyped for July. That ending with Slur and the death row guys was insane. No way Sakamoto can just chill in the store now. I just hope they don’t make his wife too strict again. Like, come on, he's saving people.

Great to hear Sakamoto Days is coming back! I really enjoyed the first part. The action was well done, and the characters were interesting. Looking forward to seeing what happens with this new group of villains.

The introduction of a team of psycho-killers targeting Sakamoto’s former colleagues is worrying. Even though he’s no longer part of the Order, the fact that they don’t care and are still coming after him raises the stakes considerably. His wife’s ultimatum about not killing again adds a significant layer of personal conflict to an already dangerous situation. It makes me wonder if he’ll be forced to choose between his past and his present. I hope he can find a way to protect everyone without resorting to lethal force, but facing a group of death row inmates sounds like a formidable challenge. The fact that he still possesses his incredible skills despite his weight gain offers a glimmer of hope. I’m really invested in seeing how he will overcome this new threat while staying true to his promise.

What struck me about the first part of Sakamoto Days was its ability to balance intense action with genuine humor and surprisingly heartfelt moments. Sakamoto’s desire for a peaceful life after his violent past resonated with me. This new development with Slur and the escaped killers seems to be testing that desire to its limits. It’s a classic setup of a character trying to escape their past, only to have it come crashing back into their present. I appreciate the clear explanation of the premise in the article and the anticipation it builds for the second part. Knowing that both subbed and dubbed versions will be available is also a plus.

I’ve been into anime for over 20 years, and Sakamoto Days reminds me why I still watch new shows. The pacing is tight, the action is smart, and the humor works without being too childish. What makes it special is the emotional restraint. Sakamoto’s not flashy—he’s focused, controlled. That’s rare. I wasn’t sure how the writers would raise the stakes, but introducing Slur and the killers was a smart move. I hope they handle the darker tone carefully though. If they go too edgy, it’ll lose what makes it different.

I didn’t know much about Sakamoto Days until a friend told me to check it out. I’m glad I did. The action scenes are well done, and there’s a surprising heart underneath the comedy. Sakamoto isn’t just funny, he’s reliable and smart. The plot with Slur sounds intense, and I hope it keeps the mix of danger and humor balanced. Sometimes action shows get too serious too fast. If they stick to what made Part 1 work, I’ll keep watching for sure.

I’ve been waiting for this news! I binged Part 1 last month and it instantly became one of my favorite shows. I love how Sakamoto is still the strongest without having to act cool all the time. And the fights? Some of the best animation I’ve seen in a while. The thing with Slur and the killers on death row? That cliffhanger left me yelling at the screen. July can’t come fast enough. I'm so ready.
