The court convicted the former Iraqi president for spearheading the massacre in Dujail following an assassination and recommended the death penalty for him and Barzan. Taha Yasin Ramadan gets 15 years. Just saw something about this on TV. He seemed really pissed after he heard what his sentence was going to be. He's probably going to appeal, but that's just going to be prolonging the inevitable. For everything he's done, this is a fair result.

As much I may generally dislike the taste of killing somebody, it seems there is really no other recourse. Hopefully it will work out to slow insurgents and discourage other purveyors of like deeds...

I think it's just going to add fuel to the fire, they said Saddam smiled as he walked out. My guess is he's going to think of himself as a martyr now.

Because they have to have -every- little detail and proof 100% proved. And even then, the system's nowhere near perfect.

I'm against the death sentence normally, although god knows this guy deserves it, but come on...hanging? What the **** is this, the 1400s?
