Rurouni Kenshin

It's Judgement Time!
Cmon peeps! Give it up for one of the kewlest animes ever! I remember watching this on the Cartoon Network. I still need to collect the DVD boxed sets. I mean wether you watch the sub or dub, it's still great. Voices are so awesome in the Dub. My favorite characters are Misao and Makoto Shishio.

It hasnt been on CN in a long time but I was listening to the theme song earlier today and got nostalgic. I really want to watch it again. I got the Samurai X movies on DVD. Those are just beautiful!

But really, I look up to Makoto Shishio. That man is my hero. Not because he's evil or is a badass. Because he doesnt have Sweat Glands. I know his pain all too well because you guys might not know this but I was born without Sweat Glands. I can't sweat. No matter how hard I work myself or how hot I get, Im dry as a bone. Yes, I know his pain *shakes fist* and yet he still strived for greater things! He still gave it his all! I love that guy! I dont burst into flames if I overwork myself but it can feel like that.

And of course I love Misao cause she's adorable. Great hair style too.

I loved Rurouni Kenshin the series. It had great story arcs, good episodic plots. Sure, some of the battles dragged on but for the most part the animation was always good. The arcs build up nicely to a climatic battle and that's what's really exciting. And of course, it's always funny.

Besides Misao and Makoto I also liked... Um I forget his name. It was a kid enemy and his story was that his family was abusive so he killed one or all of them one day. I dont remember. I dont remember which group he belonged to. Perhaps Shishio's group. But the Kid's specialty was copying other opponent's moves. So when Kenshin was fighting him, he could copy Kenshin's moves and it was a really kewl battle. Loved it.

The thing I love is, you got the series, then you got the Movies that show you scenes from the series in REALLY awesome animation style. I mean wow. I love the differant between them. That's what made Samurai X exciting. Seeing familiar scenes in that awesomely detailed animation style. I wished they had shown more Makoto scenes in that style. Cause that's something I always wondered. What he would look like in that style. Every character just becomes uber in that style.

Anyone else share my love?

Oh no doubt man. I friggin love that anime. I just wish they aired it again, it just ain't the same. I've watched every single movie that came out. The only thing I didn't get to watch was the episodes after the battle between Shishio and Kenshin. I heard that right after the last battle between Kenshin and Shishio, it got boring their after....

thats dissapointing if it got boring. I mean cause the journey to Shishio was just awesome and always had that "edge of your seat" feel. They do need to air Kenshin again. Yu Yu Hakusho too.

The only character that had that modern personality on that certain era was Hajime Saito, or so I heard. Hajime Saito, Aoshi Shinomori, and Kenshin Himura are my favorite characters of that show. Although Hajime I favor the most, Himura I sorta relate the most. He's done something so painful, he'll regret it his whole life, now that's something we can all relate.

I'm a huge Kenshin fan!! It's one of the main series that got me hooked on Anime and made me the otaku I am today!! The best part, hands down, is the Kyoto Saga...

I love Rurouni Kenshin too. So far I've seen everything except for the Meiji Era episodes.

Though I'm in the minority of Kenshin fans that thinks the Kyoto arc is overrated. While it started off awesome enough, I think it falls apart in the last ten episodes when it gets too repetitive. Here comes badguy with twisted view of the world, he fights hero with contradicting view of world. Hero says something that shocks and stuns badguy. Badguy sees error of his ways and and lets hero pass.

And while the final battle with Shishio kicked all kinds of ass, the climax pissed me off to no end. Oh sure, I get that it could be used as a metaphor for the moral message that Makoto Shishio's philosophy is ultimately a self-destructive one. But still it felt like a fucking cop-out.

The first OVA series on the other hand absolutely beautiful and close to flawless.

They're coming out with the cheap box sets pretty soon so i'll definitely be picking that up. Seta Soujuro is the best character BTW.

Oh yeah. The economy sets. They are a pretty good deal. I would have gone for them too if I hadn't already got the first two bento sets. They're much nicer boxes but they cost almost as much as the singles.

I love Kenshin, but Grn, are you aware that Saito was a real man?

Saito was loosely based on a real man at any rate. There's also a fictionalized interpretation Hajime Saito in "Peacemaker" as well as a guy named Sojiro that's always smiling just like the RK Sojiro.
