Revisiting the Best Opening Scenes in Film: Which Ones Hooked You?

[Justin J]

Opening scenes can set the tone for an entire movie, and some films just nail that first impression. I'm thinking about masterpieces like "Se7en," where that eerie atmosphere immediately pulls you into the dark world of the storyline. Then there's "Inglourious Basterds" with the unforgettable milk scene that grabs your attention and doesn't let go.

What are your top picks for movie openings that left you breathless? Which scenes do you think masterfully establish character, mood, or tension? Let's celebrate those moments that had you glued to your seat right from the start!

Absolutely, those are some iconic openings! I'd add "The Dark Knight" to the mix, that bank heist scene is such a masterclass in tension. The way it introduces the Joker while ramping up the stakes is just brilliant. The practical stunts and chaos create an energy that carries throughout the film.

Also, if we're talking about establishing mood, how about the opening of "Casino Royale"? That parkour chase is not just action-packed but also perfectly sets up Bond's character in this gritty, more grounded reboot.

What do you think about openings that showcase fight choreography? I feel like they can be just as gripping as any dialogue-driven scene!
