Well everyone. after months of waiting I have officially 100% beaten the game. X Mode, Vile Mode, and unlocked the "Day of Sigma" Anime short. So followed is my Review of the game, no spoilers barred though as I talk about it.

In a word this game is PERFECT! well maybe thats a tad of an overstatment but it's not far from the truth. Every aspect of the Original X game has been faithfully re-created and yet improved. The 2-D backgrounds have been replaced with full polygonal backdrops. for example During the start-up mission along the highway you can see other streets below with traffic continuing. The Locations of certain items such as Dr. Lights upgrade capsules and Heart Containers have been moved to allow a small tad of fresh exploration to the game. The only real complaints I had was the fact that the game retained the in-ability to collect more than 9 lives from the original game. and the aspect of "Out of sight, out of mind" If an enemy is even one pixel off-screen he'll re-spawn, and if an item drops a pixel off-screen it is gone. forget about falling after an extra life to grab it....it'll be gone by the time you reach the floor.

Of Further note is The Cutscenes. While only present at the Beginning and End of the game these really move along the story. you feel sad for the Reploid and Human who are killed at the beginning of the game during Sigma's attack on the highway. The Voice acting is also Top notch. The Cast of MegaMan X: Command Mission & MegaMan X8 return with a vengeance. Mark Gatha (who many of you may remember as the dub voice for Domon Kasshu in G-Gundam) Reprises his role as X. And he does it with flair! While the acting qaulity takes a slight hit during the anime when the actors have to worry about matching lip movments, the game itself suffers no such problme. when Sigma assumes his final form (Which is now completly on screen as opposed to 3 objects and a painted background) you can hear the venom in X's voice and almost see the spittle fly from his mouth as he swears vengeance on Sigma for Zero's death.

The Game also has a Demo of Mega Man : Powered Up! A remake of the original 1987 MegaMan game. while I was at first opposed to the style of this game...it really works. The over the top cartoonish-ness lends itself as a great comparison to the dark broody gritty atmosphere of Hunter X. the game also features 2 modes, classic and easy. Classic is the original game re-made in the new style while adding nothing in the way of new contend. New mode adds new music a xoomed in persepective, checkpoint flags and dialougue with Cutman.

The "Day of Sigma" Anime short is the last thing I'll make mention of. This begins at least several weeks before the start of the game....however is obviously set quite a bit after the cutscene from X4 in which Sigma battled Zero. It depicts most of the Reploids you face in the game prior to thier going Maverick. X and Chill Penguin are comrads, and Storm Eagle and Zero discuss military strategy in training. You get a better look at Vile's background. and the answer to the Question "If Dr. Cain created the Reploids....where was he during all the X games" Is answered. The animation is top notch and thier are several flashback scenes from X's memory of his time with Dr. Light prior to his being sealed away. (And in my opnion probably moments before Zero killed Light) which brings me to my only real gripe with the Anime, is that is does not show anything about Zero really. while I know the game is called "Maverick Hunter X" Zero is really the true hero of the Mega Man universe...being the only character to appear in all 3 time periods of the 616 universe. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a trend of Re-makes which will evntually lead into X4 & X5 which were really Zero's games.

Overall I give X for the PSP a 9.5 / 10 , It has it's Minor flaws. And Vile mode is pretty much that...Vile. But it serves as a model of the kind of Games PSP can deliver and makes owning one well worth the wait.

Thank God for Mega Man X: Command Mission, for those of us who've always wanted to play an MMX game, but are two twitch retarded to actually play 'em.

Too bad MMX:CM is kinda simple tho. I cant justify playing it when I have too many other A-List games with real refined challenge and top notch production value to play.

aw man it's only for PSP? Wtf capcom...

Wait so when exactly does X come into the picture, story wise? I dont remember much. I havent played the games in a while. But I thought X awoke when Sigma had already gone maverick and **** was goin down. I wasnt aware that X was already walking out and about and making comrades with other reploids before **** happened.

Dammit why does this have to be PSP only... gahd.

well the graphics may be vastly improved and the 24 minute movie added, but your still talking about a game designed for the size of an SNES cart a PS2 disk would be a waste of space. And stop your griping and just get a PSP like I did on launch day hehe.
