The idea is to sell web space for image hosting, portfolio hosting, and other types of small sites.
For one year's subssciption, you'd get $1 per megabyte of web space for up to 20 megabytes of web space. If you paid $5.00, you'd get 5 megs of space, $10,00 gets you 10 megs and so forth.
The advantages to paying this small yearly subscription fee over using free hosting providers:
No ads. (I hate the little buggers)
You can hotlink your images offisite.
You aren't required to link back to the main site. (I always hated linkbacks because they always screwed up my design. :/)
So long as you don't violate site5.com's Terms of Service = No porn, no hate sites, etc, I don't control the content of your pages.
Bandwidth is negotiable. Because the bandwidth for each hosting account will directly be tied to the main domain, I have to always make sure that we all have plenty of bandwidth so that the entire domain can operate. If the domain's online, you're online.
The account comes with full FTP access for one account.
I may consider offering ad-free e-mail in the near future. There are so many good free e-mail solutions though.
I'm looking to offset future web hosting costs and I'm looking to use the money to pay for a forum and a new domain. Theoretically, I could just spend my own money but money's tight and I'd rather just offer people incentives to give me their money. <3
Until recently, I use to resell major web hosting accounts to people - accounts like the one Keith has here at HJU so I have five years experience reselling web space.
I'd like to get some feedback from you guys. This is by far the busiest message board I read daily. I figure I won't have to wait long for someone to respond, even if it is just to bitch. >
The main question here is: Would any of you consider buying web space at these rates?
