Power Rangers Through the Ages.

-MMPR: Friend shows me a megazord during Dance Class, I tune in and immediately love the show. First episode I watch we see Rita destroy Earth with giant vines...sure it was only a "possibility" in her mind, but I'd still never seen anything like that before, and I was hooked.

-Power Transfer. Except for Serpenterra, thought it was stupid, hated Rocky, Adam, and Aisha. Left the show.

-Over the years, I see ads for other PR series, wonder how it hasn't gone under yet.

-Am suddenly struck one day with the desire to watch MMPR again. I stumble across some fan communities online in my attempts to dl episodes, find out my favorite ranger ever has returned. Commence downloading DT.

-DT. Fucking awesome. I loved that show to no end. I connected with the characters, it had the perfect balance of humor, action and character development. Loved every minute of it. Well, except for "In Your Dreams."

-Decide to go backwards in time and watch NS. From the first episode, I realize this isn't DT pt. 2...or 1 I guess. Expectations lowered, I find the series surprisingly enjoyable. I'd never seen a PR so willing to poke fun at itself, and it made the show great. I ended up loving all of the characters, and with great eps like "Samurai's Journey pt. 2", the series was cemented in my mind.

-Decide I gotta see what I missed. As I'm starting again at the beginning of MMPR, my gf joins me. Season 1 and the first half of Season 2 are as awesome as I remember. Even after the three ditch the show, I still enjoy it, as for some reason Jason, David and Amy seemed to be having fun. Then comes Ninja Quest. I know Adam's gonna rock later, but the other two make me want to go on a killing spree. Show gets so stupid, GF abandons me. THIS is where you were talking about, Keith, with the monsters, rangers and megazords never seen on the same screen together. Season partly saved by the Return of the Green Ranger, but no much.

-Start season 3. Holy crap, they blew up the zords, with awesome footage for it too. Great start. The Ninjetti stuff, not so great, but it's made up for with the awesomeness of Ninjor. Friends who hate PR join me in watching. "Stop the Hate Master" comes along. Friends leave. :)

And that's where I am right now. Can't wait to continue through Zeo and In Space and Time Force.

-SPD begins. Beginnings knocks me on my ass. Witty dialogue, great acting, Kalish and his team have taken the greatness of the last two seasons and kicked it up another notch. Even a few stinker eps have not lestened my enjoyment.

Huh? They're making a real life Voltron? Eh. Okay.

Wow that Pink one is a bimbo. Heh. The fat guy and the skinny guy are kind of funny though. Why doesn't the witch's mouth match her words?

The Green Ranger is kewl! Almost as kewl as Darkhawk!

Aw man. The Green Ranger is gone.

Yay! He's back! New hair. Kewl!

Whoah! This Lord Zedd guy is hardcore. The new Megazord looks stupid, is he supposed to be a samurai.

I bet you five bucks that Richie is going to be the White Ranger.

Damn! Here's your five bucks.

I can't believe they're trying to fool us into think Jason, Zack and Trini are still on the show. LAME!

Didn't I see Aisha in a music video on BET?

Aisha switched to braids! Noooo!

Lord Zedd's getting pussy whipped! Nooooo!

I bet you five bucks that Masked Rider is going to be awesome.

Damn! Here's your five bucks.

Heh heh heh. Uh heh heh heh. Rito's funny.

Ninjor sounds fruity. Why couldn't they keep the half-naked chick from the movie? Oh that's right. That movie sucked ass.

I can't believe they just used friggin' toys for the Ninja Ultrazord.

Eew! That Alien Ranger is fondling Lil' Aisha!

OH CRAP! THEY BLEW UP THE COMMAND CENTER!!!

What's coming? Who's coming! I must know!

Stronger than before. Lalalalala.

Could the Machine Empire be any more boring? I want Rita and Zedd back.

Sweet! Bulk and Skull really are friends.

They're showing "Brother Can You Spare an Arrowhead?" AGAIN? Well, Gargoyles comes on next. I guess I can sit through it one more time.

I bet you five bucks the Gold Ranger is Ryan Steele from VR Troopers!

*sigh*

Wait a minute! I saw those Trey triplets on Ricki Lake last month!

Rita & Zedd are the head villains again. Yay! Diva-who?

Huh? Why is everyone pretending they liked Biggie all of the sudden? We all agreed his music sucked just last week. Damn suck up phonies.

Beetleborgs is bad enough. Why do they have to make a Power Ranger a kid too?

Bulk & Skull are monkeys? WTF?

Neat! The Power Rangers are graduating the same year I am!

What the hell happened? This show sucks so hard now.

I like Cassie. She keeps it real.

Who is the Phantom Ranger?

I just lost my virginity! College rules!

Power Rangers in Space? How hokey can you get? Let's go play some more Final Fantasy VII.

Whoah. Andros has had it rough. You know, this season is actually pretty cool.

Warrior Ranger's Review. Thank you for reading!

Ecliptor shouldn't have been killed! That sucks. Hey Rene, can I write a fanfic on your site? I'm gonna use the Psycho Rangers in it.

Maya is hot.

The fandom is going down the toilet guys. Too many trolls now. And this new guy, Chris is kind of pretentious ain't he?

This was the most awesome season ever! I bet you five bucks Lightspeed Rescue is going to be just as cool!

**** you!

And Lightspeed Rescue is finally over! I couldn't have wished for a better birthday present.

Yes! I got Kei Mizutani's autograph!

He looks like he came from a Mad Max movie. Whattya know? He DID come from a Mad Max movie.

Eric is bad-ass!

First Trini dies then this. Worst September ever!

Way to go Amit! You be living the dream!

Disney is buying FoxKids? Whoah!

Zen-Aku is bad-ass!

OH ****! He actually killed Cole's parents!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Whoop some Beetleborg ass! WTF? Serpenterra gets taken out by a damn motocycle? Bullshit!

OMG! Marah is the hottest girl I ever seen on the show ever! It's love at first sight, I tell you! First sight!

Geesh! Can these guys be any harder on Doug Sloan?

Thanks for taking the time to talk with me. I think the show is pretty cool so far. Kinda clunky but hey it's been awhile right? Anyway. I don't know if you realized it but the 4th episode of next year is going to be the 500th. I had an idea...

Geesh! Can these guys be any more of a bunch phony suck-ups to Doug?

I bet you five bucks Cam becomes the Samurai Ranger.

Yes! Finally got one!

Whoah! Tommy's back! I can't believe he pulled that off!

Mesogog is just creepy beyond words. Elsa is kinda hot. Zeltrax is dah man!

Not another damn power-up for Conner? Geesh!

Geesh! Can these guys be any harder on Bruce Kalish?

The American Doggy suit is so icky. On second thought, it's not that bad. It is better articulated. You know what? On third though, I like it!

*sigh* How I long for the days when the fandom was halfway decent. Say what's this new place? It's kinda nice.

Liked it from the beginning, and continued watching religiously until half-way through Turbo. Started watching again toward the end of Wildforce.

(May add to this later)

- When I was a kid, I was living in Germany. Before I first watched Power Rangers, I watched the German dub of the Japanese Tokusatsu series "Tokkei Winspector".

- Once I was in a toy shop, I discovered some action figures called "Power Rangers". I noticed they look almost similar to Winspector.

- Being interested in Power Rangers, I watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for the first time on RTL, and fell in love with it!! The best TV show I ever watched since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Simpsons!!

- Later on, I moved back from Germany to my home town England. As I got more and more into Power Rangers, I discovered similar shows such as VR Troopers, Masked Rider and Beetleborgs. Masked Rider I later hated, same went with Beetleborgs. VR Troopers however I still enjoyed!!

- Got bullied at School for being a Power Rangers fan. I got punched, kicked, told to "Shag the Pink Ranger", etc. Still watched Power Rangers, since the bullies were all a bunch of dYcks!! :D And just incase they're reading this.. YES BULLIES, I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU!!!!

- As I grew into a teenager (during the days of Zeo, Turbo and In Space) my interest in Power Rangers were slowly slipping away, as I took up a hobby of playing Nintendo 64 and PlayStation Video Games. Also developped an interest in Japan as I read articles in video game magazines about games being released in Japan that won't be released in the UK, as well as Anime and J Pop Girls. ;)

- Later, during the days when the Internet was brand new, I decided to do a Google search for Power Rangers. After looking at various Power Rangers sites, BOOM!! I finally discovered Super Sentai. After watching a few clips of ZyuRanger, I was very surprised that all this time Power Rangers was originally a Japanese TV Show that has been popular in Japan since the 1970's. I wasn't betrayed though, I was more "excited" really. It was like "Power Rangers was one of the cool things that came from Japan". It kinda felt like that episode of The Simpsons when Homer discovered Mr Sparkle. :P Since then my interest in Japan risen to maximum level.

- Looking more at Power Rangers on the Internet put me back in the mood to continue watching Power Rangers on TV, and Power Rangers TimeForce was really cool!! As I got more and more interested in Super Sentai, I discovered more and more awesome Japanese Tokusatsu Superheroes such as Kamen Rider, Ultraman, Uchuu Keiji Gavan, etc.

- Then I decided it was time to finally order a Tokusatsu series on DVD off EBay. So I brought Ninpu Sentai Hurricanger, and when I watched it I thought this was better than any American Power Rangers series I've ever seen!! I just loved the characters and the Japanese comedy humour!! And so I was expecting good things for Power Rangers Ninja Storm (seeing it was being brought by another company), until..

- 2004, the year when Power Rangers was finally crap!! Power Rangers Ninja Storm was THE worst Power Rangers series ever in Power Rangers history. Ninpu Sentai Hurricanger was better than this pile of crap!!

- Despite the return of Power Ranger legend Jason David Frank, Power Rangers Dino Thunder was grey and dull when compared to the colourful Bakuryuu Sentai AbaRanger. It was a bit better than Ninja Storm, but like Roy Walker said: "It's Good but it's Not Right". :P

- Power Rangers SPD. When I first heard of this series, I predicted it was gonna be the biggest pile of **** since Saban's Masked Rider. When I downloaded episodes 1 and 2 off Bit Torrent, I discovered it was better than I thought. It was a slight improvement since Ninja Storm, but still I didn't really care too much about the series, I dunno why, maybe I just like DekaRanger a little too much!! Also I hate Mora!!

- Finally, I learned that every year, Power Rangers is going to take a Sentai series, boot out the Japanese cast and replace it with half talented American cast, water the storyline down so that it can "appeal to an American audiance", rename it from "???? Sentai ????Ranger" to "Power Rangers ????? Force/Storm/Whatever, make mountains of cash out of high TV ratings and toy merchandising, then have the Americanized version gain worldwide fame while the Japanese version only shown/known in Japan. Because I loved the Japanese version, I thought "this is sad". So I decided that after all these years I'm gonna "wave goodbye" to the Power Rangers, and let them fade away into obscurity, while continuing to enjoy Super Sentai and other Tokusatsu heroes. I still enjoy watching the original 3 seasons of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (them being my childhood heroes ;) ).

- At college, some dude back from school asks me: "Do you still watch Power Rangers?" I simply said: "Yes", but I lied. I still watch Super Sentai (of course) but I thought it would be too detailed to tell him about Super Sentai and why I given up on Power Rangers, so I just said "Yes". I still get people asking me if I still watch Power Rangers, but I just turn my back on them and walk off.

- So What Next? Being a keen fan on Japanese Pop Culture, Tokusatsu, Anime and Manga, JPop, Japanese Girls ;), etc, I thought it would be a good idea if I lived in Japan as a future life plan. So I decided to start learning Japanese.

EDIT: OOOPS!!!, Sorry I went into too musch detail!!!

I enjoyed the hell out of it when I was a kid, especially the first season and the whole Green Ranger arc. That blew me away. Campy, yes, but I loved it. Then they started filming their own fight scenes and relying less and less on sentai footage.

As it progressed, as parent groups forced the fight scenes to become totally weak, and the Megazord footage didn't mach up with the giant bad guy on the screen, and it made less and less sense why Rangers in dinosaur-themed costumes but had "Ninja Zords"... I started enjoying it less. As that show went onto the second and third seasons, it was like it was hanging on by a thread. JC is right- I never liked the three people who replaced the original cast.

And when they did the whole thing where the Rangers became little kids and the "Alien Rangers" were introduced, that nearly killed it for me. The final nail in the coffin was Zeo- I hate the Ohranger designs with a passion, and by then the cast and villains were so lame, it was useless to watch any further. It was hanging on by an even smaller thread and I turned it off.

I haven't watched PR since then. It's just not my thing anymore. I'll stick to sentai, thank you very much. I don't care how good people think it is, I'd just rather watch the original and not some edited, bastardized and Americanized version. But that's just my opinion.

I did, however, manage to see most of Lost Galaxy when it was on, and I thought that show was better than what I watched as a kid, and certainly better than Gingaman... but that's not hard to do.

-Master P

I don't know why, but seeing Master P post here gave me inspiration to get this skeleton out of my closet. Yes, I apologize to PR fans, but the sentai fan in me is quite ashamed to view PR.

I'll start by being completely honest here -- I don't really care for PR. I wouldn't say I'm an anti-PR/sentai supremacist, despite how certain venom towards PR may come through my posts. I think that comes from actually seeing sentai as a kid and knowing how it was compared to lame American kids' shows that treat kids like they're dunces.

When my family left in Japan in mid '88, I was in love with sentai and had my tapes -- for all I knew, I'd never see a different sentai show again. So, when the ads for PR came out and I saw the toys, I was like "Hey! That's the stuff from Japan being used! The woman from Spielban is even there!" And I watched it. There's part of me that hates to admit that I liked some of the old MMPR -- I remember my friends being into it, it was fun. And hell, the sentai purist in me wants to kick my own ass when I see some old MMPR episodes and feel an even nostalgia, but what can you do? Let some sort of stupid thing like sentai snobbery eat away fun memories?

PR -- It was a lot hokier than the sentai shows I knew, but for some strange reason I liked it. It could be that I was young or there was a part of me that felt like I'd never see sentai again...hey, I didn't know the internet would help me to see every sentai I missed and then some. I was smitten with Amy Jo Johnson, something I don't really understand to this day. I thought Austin St. John was cool -- and hell, I even admit today that he makes for a better Red than people like Shun Shioya or Ryuji Sainei. After a while it got deadly stale -- the cheesy Rita jokes, the dumbing of Goldar, bad, bad original footage of ninja outfits. The kids, the Alien Rangers, the three replacements who sucked. Just in time came...

ZEO -- I liked the change, but, like Ohranger itself, there's nothing that interests me in that show. I quickly tuned out somewhere around Jason coming back, and that's when I pretty much stopped watching PR regularly. Now, I'll just check out several episodes to see what they chop the sentai into. Here's what I thought of what I saw:

TURBO -- Crap. Nothing more needs to be said than that!

IN SPACE -- Eh...it tried. I think it still clinged to old and tired PR plots. By now, thanks to the internet, I was back into sentai. I was really into Megaranger at the time, so I wasn't able to judge In Space with a clear conscious. Not to mention I was a huge sentai supremacist at the time.

LOST GALAXY -- I initially hated Gingaman with a passion, so I tried to watch this one with an open mind. I found it pretty dull, despite having a likable cast. Dorky, too. Of course, as sentai got really bad with shows like Hurricanger, I went back an appreciated Gingaman for what it attempted, but it's still not close to being a favorite of mine.

LIGHTSPEED RESCUE -- I was really into GoGoFive, so I wasn't fond to see this one. It actually wasn't too bad, but the cast always seemed like they would rather be in any other project in the world except for the very show they were on.

TIME FORCE -- I'm not too fond of Timeranger and, oddly enough, I did like Time Force. It stuck real damn close to Timeranger, but has a slight edge on Timeranger by getting a cast who seemed to genuinely like each other and shared a good rapport, something the Timeranger gang lacked incredibly. I also thought the Timeranger villains were lame, and while Ransik (sp?) wasn't that great, he was at least a visible actor, something sentai has completely forgotten about. The only character I did like in Timeranger, Naoto/Time Fire, I hated the PR counterpart of (Eric/Quantum). What's with that voice of his? He either sucks back helium or has taken one too many steroids.

WILD FORCE -- Really not interested in this one, but I liked Forever Red. Ballsy getting all of the Reds back together, I would have much preferred for Gaoranger VS Super Sentai to attempt that instead of people nobody cares about like Gouki (**** ya, Gingaman!). Some PR fans bitch about the absence of Rocky, but I really didn't care. Rocky sucked. Jason was the real Red, so as far as I'm concerned, Forever Red had all of the Reds.

NINJA STORM -- On par with Hurricanger in 110% total suckage! Who's the ad wizard that came up with x-treme ninjas?

DINO THUNDER -- Like Turbo and Ninja Storm in a blender -- a poopshake.

SPD -- I'm not too fond of Dekaranger, but SPD doesn't seem that much better. The cast gets under my skin just as much as the Japanese cast. And the only Dekaranger character I did like, Doggy, was completely ruined and replaced by a fish looking thing with a shitty voice actor (long live Tetsu Inada!). That's about the biggest difference. Oh, and that SPD inexplicably gave them lame superpowers out of suit.

True dat....Hurricanger sucked! Except for the Shurikenjer cameos. I was just wondering if the NS cast also get their asses kicked by the baddies just like the Hurricangers got their asses handed to them by the Goraijer and Jakanja....

MMPR - It's what got me into the series and kicked ass.

MMPR Season 2 - Slightly worse than the first, it could have been better. But it did good.

MMPR Season 3 -Meh...It really sucked out of the three first seasons

Zeo - It finally brought some good story not seen since the second seasons. It wrapped up things pretty good for the rangers.

Turbo - Not great, but not as bad people say it was. There really wasn't a mentor through the whole thing either.

In Space - "Always a chance" and "Countdown to Destruction" were the ONLY saving grace the season had. It had way to many plot points untouched, a lot of the stuff could have been handled better. But it did have the best blue ranger to date.

Lost Galaxy - It was a good start to depart from the past seasons. Got some good fights, some great zords scenes. It had a really good ending too. It was okay for a stand alone, it had some great plots. It's really underrated I think.

Lightspeed Rescue - SeeTurbo

Time Force - Best season ever, it was just perfect. Every thing about it was done right.

Wild Force - WORST SEASON EVER. **** acting, **** fighting, **** story. C'mon, the rangers dancing around? It made PR into more of a joke than it already was. The writing for the series sucked, those who call this dark really need to check out something else...Because dark, this series was anything but. And the cast choices...Just no, they couldn't act for their lives.

Ninja Storm - This was actually a good different take on the series. The comedy needs some work, the fight scenes were great though. We finally got some real martial artist for actors in who knows who long.

Dino Thunder - It was okay, nothing great. Just seemed like another every year type of series.

SPD - To early to tell, but I'm not really liking it much. It's go my favorite ranger ever in it, but that isn't enough to save it really.

Yeah, I haven't really liked but a few seasons since the first three to be honest.
