Title: Power Rangers: Bushido Storm (A Shinkenger adaptation)
Author: GenerationX7
Summary: Long ago, the Order of the Oni have been sealed by five samurai warriors of the Divine Wind Clan. Now they've been freed and the current heir to the Clan and his friends must stop them from finding the Clan's symbol; the infamous Divine Star. With it the Order can flood the Earth with the River of the Afterlife.
Author's Note: My addition is the Divine Star, which is modelled off the Dragon Star of WMAC Masters. This star is not in Shinkenger, it's my own idea for the story. This is also my Samurai Sentai Shinkenger adaptation. Which is replacing Power Rangers: Grand Prix.
Long ago there was a powerful artifact created, the Divine Star. It represented the eight elements of the planet; fire, water, earth, nature, air, metal, shadow and light. But with all powerful artifacts, there are those who wanted the power for evil purposes. Hence the Order of the Oni, a army of evil spirits tried to steal it. But the warriors of five elements stopped the Order and sealed them away for all time.
For if they used the power of the elements, the could've opened the floodgate that led to the River of the Afterlife. If the river's endless waters should ever come into the realm of the living... It will flood the Earth and nothing would survive the great flood.

Collette was going to be a accomplished gymnast and go to the Olympics. But messed up her routine in the Olympic trials. Which cost her a spot in the Olympics and convinced her father coach that she's not good enough. This shortly led to her parents divorcing and her father training a new prodigy. Which makes Collette jealous, but it get to her. She's still the sweet caring girl that her parents raised. In fact Collette is the captain of the school's gymnastics team.
"A accomplishment in my opinion." Collette said to herself. "No matter what my estranged father thinks."
She went walking through the basketball gym to reach the gymnastics gym. However baskteball pratice was going on. And thus yelped and ducked when a stray basketball almost hit her head.
"Oh sorry Cole, didn't see ya there." said a African-American male with a corn row hairstyle and brown eyes.
"It's okay Elijah." Colette said. "Just please be careful and catch the ball next time."
"I will." Elijah wore blue shorts, a blue t-shirt, his goldish-yellow practice jersey and black and blue baskteball shoes.

Kayla Spalding formally known as the young "Amazon", stormed out of a local wrestling training facility. She was fed up with her boss, a corrupt man that made her life miserable. Kayla was hoping that she would get the push that she desired. Instead her employer ignored her and made her lose every match against the current women's champion. Besides Kayla needs to concentrate on school work right now. She's a senior in high school and is going to graduate. But to do that, she has to keep her grades up. So this the perfect time for her to quit professional wrestling.
Kayla has long dark brown hair with blond highlights and green eyes. Her attire is a yellow and black t-shirt, jean shorts and white sneakers. She also wears a pair of wire glasses.

Hikaru Nogami, grandfather of Ted Chaplin and current head of the Divine Wind Clan of samurai warriors. He is a old Japanese-American man with no hair. Currently he's meditating in the Divine Wind dojo. Behind him is a eight point star with a dragon in the center. At each point kanji of each of the eight elements shown. Within each point are gems. Each gem was a diferent color. The colors are red (fire), blue (water), pink (air), green (nature), yellow (earth), orange (light), purple (shadow) and grey (metal).
Hikaru's meditation was disturbed by a flash of mental images. Involving monsters based off of Japanese legends.
"They musn't open the sarcophagus..." he muttered.
All the while androids in black clothing stopped their daily business of maintaining the dojo, to stare at him. These androids are called Helper Droids. And they are based off of the kuroko stagehands of kabuki theater. Hikaru wanted only kabuki stage hands. Thus the engineering teacher, under orders from the principle of Saint George High, built them.
---
The next day Saint George High held a field trip to the unveiling of the Feudal Japan Exhibit. At the New Brighton Museum of Natural History. The New Brighton Archeological Society were very exicted to open the sarcophagus they found in a abandoned Buddhist temple. Despite the Japanese kanji warnings to never open the sarcophagus or have the realm of the living cursed with the spirits of the dead. Though as archeologists, they simply laughed at the warnings. Which isn't new in archeology. Many scientists laughed at such "nonsense", then pay for it later. What makes these guys so special?
As the students entered the museum, Joseph Chaplin leads the pack. Joe is Ted's father and principle of Saint George High School. He is loving and caring towards his students. He doesn't really dicipline his students. But makes them aware of theyr mistakes and hope they can learn from them. He is the only principle to never hand out a detention or suspension. Let alone asked for the school board to expel a student. The School Board of New Brighton hates him for that. They want dicipline, but he wants the students to learn. Because that's why they're at school in the first place.
The last one in was a student with sandy blond hair, glasses and a "don't care about anyone but myself" attitude. His name is Richard Miller and the only thing he really cares about, is trying to get a head start in his dream career, law enforcement. He only came with the group because his mother said history is good for him. The fact remains that Richard hates museums. He finds them boring, but he has to be strong for his mother.
The group was led into the Feudal Japan exhibit. In which Ted noticed the Divine Star as part of the exhibit.
"Dad..." Ted said. "Ain't that grandpa's symbol of his clan?"
"It is, but Grandpa Hikaru gave it as a donation to the museum. He hopes that people will learn of the Divine Wind Clan and the history they have." Joe laughed. "Which is nothing more than fairy tales. I don't know why they accepted the Divine Star in the first place. It has no power of the eight elements anyway."
Elijah, Collette and Kayla were Ted's friends. They never knew of Ted's Japanese heritage until now.
"You're grandpa is the decendant of a clan of ninjas?" Elijah asked.
"No samurai. The Divine Wind Clan fought only paranormal foes back in Fedual Japan." Ted replied. "Making the first ghost hunters in human history. But nobody believes the stories my grandfather tells. He's gone senile for sure."
---
As everyone gathered for the big event. Certain employees got a funny feeling something bad was going to happen. But they were told to shake it off as today was goin to be a good day.
"Okay everyone gather around." said the Curator of the museum. "We're now going to open the exhibit with the opening of a ancient Japanese sarcophagus. Now some Japanese members of the excavation team ran away screaming when they saw this thing. But they were believing a old ghost story. Told around the campfire to boyscouts."
Everyone laughed at the joke. Except for Ted and his friends. They were starting to share Ted's strange feeling that something isn't right with the sarcophagus. The Curator turned and held up a crowbar. "The Feudal Japan exhibit is now open!"
As soon as he pried the lid off, red light escaped the sarcophagus. The several red dreadlock monsters known as Nightmares came out and began attacking. The Nightmares have no face. Instead they just have a very big mouth in place of a face. With razor sharp teeth.
Joe tried to get the terrorifed students out in a calm and safe manner, but the entire group was seperated. Ted, Elijah, Kayla, Collette and Richard was in one part of the exhibit. Joe was at another part and everyone else was in a panic trying to get out.
out of the red light came three demonic beings. One had six eyes, three on each side. The other was a female with two large golden eyes and red pupils. The last one had a squid shaped head. The tentacles were the thing's mouth.
"Ah after three hundred years we're free!" said the six eyed leader. "Now it's time to find the Divine Star and flood Earth!"
"Over there is the Divine Star, Grand Master." said the female with a three string Japanese guitar, known as a shamisen.
"Thank you Siren." Grand Master Rageclaw said. "Wiseman Squiddo, go get it!"
The squid head called Squiddo, walked over to the Divine Star. Only to have Ted stand in his way.
"I'm not going to let you touch the Divine Star!" Ted exclaimed. Only to have a group of Nightmares tackle him and hold him down. Squiddo breaks the glass and sets off the alarm. Once obtained, Squiddo brings it back to Rageclaw.
"Thank you Wiseman." Rageclaw thanked his advisor and to the star. "Open wide the gates to the afterlife! So that we may flood the Earth!"
Nothing happened.
"I said open the gates of the afterlife! So that we may flood the Earth!"
Still nothing happened. Siren took the star and threw it against the floor. It shattered into pieces, revealing that it was made of plaster.
"It's fake!!!!" Rageclaw was furious. Well even more furious than he usually is. "WHERE IS THE REAL STAR!?"
Ted's friends and even Richard fought the Nightmares off of Ted. Once that was done, they ran to meet Joe. Who took them to the Divine Wind Dojo. The students and other employees at the museum escaped with their lives. Most of the students, if not all of them, ran home. Scared to leave the sanctuary of their homes. Richard actually ran onto the bus that took Ted and his friends to the dojo.
---
Hikaru was with the next in line for the dojo's grand master, Philip. Philip learned martial arts and bushido at the dojo, when he was a kid. Now he looks forawrd to taking things over in Hikaru's absence.
"They opened the sarcophagus, sensei." Philip said. Philip has fiery red hair spiked with hair gel.
"It is as I feared." Hikaru said. "Looks like we will have to give five students the Brush Morphers and activate the Divine Star. It is the only way."
"If we must sensei, I'll take one and become the Red Ranger." Philip said.
"I wouldn't want to burden yourself with such a great responsibility Philip. I'll find five students to do it. You just train them further in bushido."
---
The Nightmares begin their attack on New Brighton. They were led by a monster that has is red on the upper half, while blue on the bottom half. It's true face was on the bottom half. The bell skirt monster was a Shogun Nightmare. Leader of the Nightmares.
"HAHAHA!" Shadowix laughed. "Make way to the Divine Wind Dojo! We must get that Star!"
---
Philip and Hikaru heard commotion outside the main halls of the dojo, which was built as a Japanese castle. Complete with a outdoor courtyard that was used for training. Soon the paper doors were ripped open by Nightmares and Shadowix stalked into the main chambers. Philip got up from his pillow and ran at the Nightmares in a fury. However the Nightmares overpowered him and knocked him out. Hikaru fought with Shadowix and eventually lost. Hikaru fell to the floor and slowly faded away. His physical form destroyed. In other words, he's dead. Shadowix killed him.
"Ted... Joseph... I'm sorry." Hikaru said as he faded. "I failed to protect the Divine Star. Now the responsibility must be placed with you..."
Shadowix tried to grab the Divine Star, but some force blocked him from even reaching it. Forcing him to growl in anger.
"Let's go Nightmares! We'll find another way to obtain the Divine Star!" he said as they left the dojo. The students were all injured and the androids were completely destroyed. Leaving some parts of the dojo burning or destroyed.
---
"Oh no..." Joe said as he stopped the bus. Once everyone esle got off, they saw what worried Joseph so much, the now destroyed dojo. He fliped his cellphone open to call for paramedics, police and fire fighters. Ted saw what happened and knew he had to find his grandfather.
"Grandpa!" Ted ran and his father tried to grab, but failed. Richard saw the devastation and was overcome with a sudden surge of sadness. He eventually followed Ted and his friends inside. Where the five split up and see who they can help until help finally arrives. Richard however was confused about the Droids laying all over the ground.
"My grandfather needed help, but didn't want to burden the students. So my dad asked the engineering teacher, Mr. Lupo, to build advanced robots to help around the dojo." Ted said. "They also have a security plan implemented if the dojo is ever attacked. Looks like they couldn't handle whatever it was that attacked. Come on, we have to find my gradnfather."
The two went into the main chambers. There they saw the Divine Star, in all of it's glory, with Philip slowly coming too. Hikaru Nogami was no where to be found.
"Grandpa?" Ted asked aloud. Hikaru's spirit appeared before the two teens.
"Hello grandson." Hikaru said. "You've noticed of course, that I'm no longer in this world. But my spirit will always remain here. You must activate the Divine Star and harness it's power. You can't do this alone. So you'll need some help. Don't cry and don't mourn my passing. It was expected. Ted go now."
Ted and Richard didn't say anything. They just ran to get the others.
---
Once everyone was gathered in the main hall and once Philip was recovering. Ted grabbed the Divine Star. It started to glow in a golden light. The gems too glowed in their respective colors. Then only five elements were absorbed by Ted's friends. The remaining three shot off to who knows where.
In the five posessions was a emblem with kanji symbol of their element written on it. Ted's was a pentagon, Kayla's was a triangle, Richard's was a square, Elijah's was a hexagon and finally Collette's was a circle.
"Those are your Origami Zords." Philip said. "The Divine Star has chosen you five to protect the world as Power Rangers."
"Power Rangers?" Elijah asked.
"It was your grandfather's idea. He knew the power of the Divine Star. He knew that it would choose a total of five and give them a power of a element from the Star itself."
Joseph sighed and continued. "Your grandfather asked Mr. Lupo to build five cellphone devices called Brush Morphers. They can change into a calligraphy brush. He even asked me to call a Master RJ in Ocean Bluff, California. He wanted to know how to access a Morphing Grid. Afterwards Hikaru was going to charge five of his students with the responsibility of being Power Rangers. I was thinking he was a old fool myself, but now I see he was very serious. Looks like my son and his friends have to take on that responsibility. I just don't want you to get hurt."
"Umm Mr. Chaplin..." Richard spoke up. "I'm not your son's friend. I only worry about myself."
"Well looks like you are now Mr. Miller."
Philip walks back into the main hall with a key. He uses it to open a secret compartment in the floor. Inside were five Brush Morphers. Phil gave one to each Ranger. "You five will have a crash course in calligraphy. You just fold the phone into it's brush form and make a portal. The portal has to correspond to emblem you have."
"Thanks Phil." Ted and the Rangers began to leave the main hall. Until Phil called back to them.
"Give them one for your grandfather." he said. Ted nodded in understandment. Then they left the dojo.
"I hope they know what they're doing." Phil said.
"So do I." Joseph said.
---
Now that business with the Divine Star has been settled. Which the Order saw the remaining three elements fly off into the horizon. There was the matter of trying to cause as much destruction as they could. Causing the people of New Brighton to run away screaming.
Eventually the Rangers arrived and faced their advisary. With Ted glaring at Shadowix.
"Ready?" Ted asked.
"READY!" the other four replied. Then they formed their brushes and drew a portal in the shape of their Zords' emblem form. "POWER OF THE ELEMENTS! ACTIVATE!"
The portals enlarged and the Rangers jumped into them. Inside each Ranger was taken to a realm of their respective element. Ted's was erupting volcano, Elijah's was underwater, Collette's was in mid air, Richard's was in a lush forest and Kayla's was in a barren desert with rock formations. In each realm was their Ranger forms, staring right at them. The Ranger form and the Ranger run into each other to become one. Once that was done, the Rangers were fully morphed into Power Rangers. At each Rangers' side was their standard side arm, a katana called a Praxino Blade. As they the katanas hilt can be spun. Making the hilt a Praxinoscope. They pull out a black Storm Disc from their belt buckle and place it through the handle of their Praxino Blade. Making the disc a part of the hilt, then unsheath the Praxino Blade.
"Samurai of Fire! Bushido Storm Red Ranger!" Ted shouted.
"Samurai of Water! Bushido Storm Blue Ranger!" Elijah shouted.
"Samurai of Air! Bushido Storm Pink Ranger!" Collette shouted.
"Samurai of Nature! Bushido Storm Green Ranger!" Richard shouted.
"Samurai of Earth! Bushido Storm Yellow Ranger!" Kayla shouted.
"WE'RE THE DEFENDERS OF ALL LIVING THINGS! POWER RANGERS BUSHIDO STORM!"
The Rangers sprang into action and fought the Nightmares with their Key Blades. But they were easily outnumbered.
"So what now?" Elijah asked.
"Rangers!" Philip called over their helmet communicators. "You can spin the hilt of your Praxino Blades to summon your personal weapons. You should control them with a colored Storm Disc inside your holders."
"Let's try it." Ted spun his first and it turned into a large sword, called the Storm Sword. He then added a red Storm Disc onto his weapon and swung it around to destroy a small group of the Nightmares. Of course the other Rangers had to duck, as the blade was huge. Then the other Rangers got the right idea and summoned their own weapons. Kayla had a shuriken weapon called the Storm Blades. Elijah had a bow called the Storm Bow, it fired blue energy arrows. Collette had a war fan called the Storm Fan. Finally Richard has a naginata polearm called the Storm Lance.
With their respective weapons out and in use, the fight with the Nightmares was no problem. But they still had the Shogun Nightmare to contend with. However Ted charged and attacked him. Inflicting serious damage to Shadowix. Ted finished the fight off early with a powerful slash across Shadowix's mid section, destroying the Shogun Nightmare instantly. Just when the Rangers thought it was over, Phil contacted the Rangers again.
"It's not over Rangers. That Shogun Nightmare will revive itself. All Shogun Nightmares in the Order of the Oni revive themselves with their second pair of eyes!"
"Their second pair of eyes?" Richard asked. He soon knew what Phil meant when Shadowix grew into a giant. Leaving the Rangers clueless at what they should do.
"Any ideas?" Ted asked. Elijah pulled his emblem out and it took the form of a mechanical blue dragon
"Maybe we can trace the symbols on our emblems and it might just enlarge our Origami Zords." he suggested.
"I don't see other options." Kayla said.
"Alright here we go." Ted pulled his emblem out and it formed a lion. He placed it on the ground and traced the kanji symbol with his Brush Morpher and the Lion Origami Zord did in fact grew. Ted was standing on top his own Zord and then jumps down into the cockpit. He takes the Storm Disc and inserts it on his Key Blade. Then he inserts the Key Blade into the control console activate his Zord.
"Let's do this Rangers!" Ted told the others. The Rangers then enlarged and activated the controls for their Zords as well. Kayla had the Monkey Zord, Collette had the Turtle Zord, Richard had the Bear Zord and of course Elijah had the Dragon Zord. The Zords can still fold into their emblem form while enlarged.
The Monkey Zord charged at Shadowix and punched him before doing backflips and then swinging on a bridge between two skyscrapers. Landing on a even higher building.
The Dragon Zord fired a blue flame out of its mouth, at Shadowix. Followed by the Turtle Zord folding up and spinning around. Finally ramming into Shadowix's abdomen. The Bear Zord charged and clawed at Shadowix's face. Before folding up and landing on his left foot. Which caused his eyes to pop out of the sockets for a second. Both Zords rolled away before going back into the animal forms.
"My turn! This is for grandpa!" Ted made his Zord fold up, with the exception of the Zord's front legs. Which actually streched outward. The Lion Zord the ignited into flames and cut through Shadowix's mid section, destroying him for good.

Inside the Haunted Lake on the Haunted Island
The Haunted Island, is the second island in Put-In-Bay Ohio. The other island is of course New Brighton. The Haunted Island was once populated, but after many ghost sightings, everyone left the island and vowed to never return. It is against the law to even go there. For safety reasons as everyone can understand. The Haunted Lake is smack dead in the center of the island and is perfect circle. It's also a pretty large lake. Squidddo sighed as he stood on the shore of the lake. His Shogun Nightmare was destroyed by the Power Rangers. Well back to the drawing board he guessed. But Rageclaw wouldn't be too happy to know that the Power Rangers have arrived to stop him, or the fact that the Divine Star was broken into eight pieces and the remaining three are scattered across Lake Erie. But he had to report it to Rageclaw.
A old Japanese style sailboat appeared in the middle of the lake. The entire island was slowly being covered in red light, until the entire sky was red. Squiddo waited as the boat docked and climbed aboard.
"Grand Master..." Squiddo was about to say. Until Rageclaw interrupted him.
"I know! The Divine Star has split into eight pieces and the Power Rangers have five pieces!" Rageclaw was given a herbal green iced tea from the Nightmares to drink. This is the only thing that will calm him down. "We'll find the pieces and we will accomplish our goal of flooding the Earth! This I swear Wiseman! Now go and build a better Shogun Nightmare!"
---
The Rangers went back to the dojo, as heroes. With the injured students congratulating them from where they stood. Even the authorities found out who the Power Rangers were. Of course it was easy to tell when the Rangers had removed their helmets. Joseph hugged Ted as if he hadn't seen him in years.
"I'm so glad you're okay." he said.
"Of course I'm okay dad." Ted replied. "It'll take more than that to take me down."
"Don't ever say that again."
"Ok dad..."
After everyone left and the injured students were taken to the hospital. The chief of the New Brighton Police Department congratulated each Ranger personally.
"You five may still be in school, but your actions today has saved many lives. It'll be okay if the police department keeps your identity secret, but what about your school?"
Joseph spoke up. "Only me and the engineering vocation teacher will know their identity. Hopefully they won't be found out by the other faculty or the student body."
"Let's hope so..."
Phil clapped his hands. "Well now that you have saved the world for one day. You will have to stay as Power Rangers until the Order of the Oni has been eliminated. The Order of the Oni named themselves after Japanese demons and thus created havoc like demons. They were sealed by samurai a thousand years ago. Now that they're out and resuming their havoc, you're now the latest generation to fight them. I want to know if all five of you are in this for the long haul."
"I have to stay in for my grandfather." Ted said.
"I speak for everyone but Richard." Elijah said. "If Ted's in, then so are we. What about you Richard?"
"Seeing as I'm stuck with your four. I have no choice either. Then again this will help me further my dream career. So what the hey. I'm in."
Joseph shook his head. "Always thinking of your career after high school, Richard. I'm proud of all five of you. You five are doing what so few have done, that is become Power Rangers, the urban legend superheroes of Earth. From this day forward Mr. Lupo and I will support you in whatever way we can. Now I have to get these Helpers over to Mr. Lupo. He's going to have a fit when he sees his most prized creations destroyed."
Author's Comment: That's it for chapter one. Next chapter the Rangers will have a hard lesson in teamwork. When they can't defeat the next Shogun Nightmare and his Gigas Nightmares with their Zords. They will have to learn to work together and combine their Zords into their Megazord.

out of the red light came three demonic beings.
