When I was a child, I always liked the villains more than the heroes, believe it or not. I liked Skeletor more than He-Man, Megatron more than Optimus, Cobra more that G.I. Joe, and so on. But the exception to this rule was Power Rangers. For some reason, I just couldn't bring myself to want Rita Repulsa or Lord Zedd to defeat the rangers, even though I thought Zedd was cool, the Green Ranger, White Ranger was just so much cooler, and he was a hero! That, however, changed when I saw "Power Rangers: The Movie" on opening day, in Marietta, Ohio, when I was visiting my Grandparents. It was my first experience with Ivan Ooze, who would always remain one of my favorite villains of all time, even when I lost interest in Power Rangers (before I got it back)

Ivan Ooze, played by veteran British actor Paul Freeman, who has no idea what Power Rangers were when asked to play the role, and most likely had no real interest in this storyline. But even so, he pulled it off brilliantly and made himself to be one of the most memorable villains for Power Rangers and Sentai alike. Ivan Ooze was an evil entity who only wanted destruction upon others, but that didn't stop him from being sarcastic about it!

Ivan Ooze, as a figure, doesn't have alot of articulation, mainly because his royal robe obscures his legs and feet, and thus, Bandai felt no need to add them. In terms of articulation, Ivan's arms and head are the only parts of him that can be moved.

For a toy that is, in fact, a decade old, it's a pleasant surprise of how detailed the toy is. Even the head is sculpted to match the countenance of Ivan Ooze on the film, and his body also matches that to the film's appearance of him. There was a smaller (and crappy) 4 inch bendy version of Ivan Ooze. This didn't make much sense, because the smaller Ranger figures were 5 inches tall, and Ivan Ooze was taller than the Rangers in the film. As a child, I never found this totally awesome 8 inch version, so I had to settle for the crappy bendy one.

Ivan Ooze also came with a strangely shaped staff, that perhaps bears the insignia of his evil empire, before he was locked away. This staff was not featured in the film, so presumably, it has no relevance whatsoever, other than all the Evil Space Aliens came with SOMETHING, even if they didn't use anything in the show. I personally think a better accessory would have been a "purple lightning bolt" that could be placed into Ivan's hand (similar to the way the staff is attatched), because he certainly used the purple lightning enough in the film.

Along with Ivan, his ectomorphicons were also released in the 8 inch lines, so your new Ninjamegafalconzord could battle with Scorpitron and Hornitor. These figures were also rare in some areas, and didn't stay around long. Oddly enough, Hornitor appears on eBay more often than Scorpitron and Ivan.

Price: Heh, you'd have to find him first. Sometimes a loose toy of him will pop up on eBay, but even that is a rarity.
