Ok, so my seven year old Dell may have finally bought it yesterday, and I think I can wrestle it back into shape, but I want to look into building a new rig instead. I browsed New Egg and Tiger Direct, but I'm really flying blind...I just don't know what I'm looking for.

I think my friends here can help me put it together once I get all the parts, I just need to know what parts I should be looking for.

Only suggestion I can make is to spring for the 500GB hard drives instead of the 250s. A 500 gigger shouldn't cost you more than 30-35 bucks extra per unit.

I've also heard that Seagate HDs are questionable in terms of their reliability. Speaking for myself, I had my friend build my computer for me (he took Comp Sci in university and currently works as a tech dude at the Federal Tax Centre here where I live), and he says Western Digital HDs are probably the best bang for your buck.
