If the accident indirectly caused complications then they can't legally sue. That's like suing for the butterfly effect. Plus most things like that are void after 5 years of the incident. Tell them to hold out a year and they can't do a thing.
If he was at school, it's actually the school's responsibility, not the parents' responsibility. Someone has a faulty defense.
I don't know about an iota of Japanese law , but if it's similar to ours, that should definitely be the case. I honestly don't care about the prosecuting side on this case as they should be lashing out at the hospital which NEGLECTED their relative along with other elderly people most likely, not some boy and his family who had no direct correlation to the accident. The justice system needs to be remade to punish the right people because all it has done is protect the bad and evil and harmed the good and virtuous.
It has to be the school's responsibility because they put the nets too close to the street and the fact rests that if they were put there by the school and not moved by the students, then it's their fault. But if the students moved it , then the students' parents should've been made to pay for the broken leg . Since that was not the case , the school in question should've paid the damages , not the boy . And for his other conditions, he already had dementia and he was neglected by the hospital staff.
Why go after a presumably middle class family where the real money is in the hospitals? And it would also be the RIGHT thing to do, so to see that those who were SUPPOSED to care care of the ailing old gentlemen lose their license. These people do not know how to fully exploit a situation , do they?
I hope this family can realize they can bring the RIGHT people to justice and not this nice lad and his family who have done nothing wrong aside from being unjustly criminalized . Plus ,they'd help other families in their prefecture who have elderly being neglected by those same people.
