Don't remember exactly when I found out. I do know it wasn't til YEARS after PR started, and I got on this wonderful thing called the internet.
The first Sentai I decided to check out and was exposed to was the GaoRanger movie (Fire Mountain Howls), and that was it. I was in love. And ever since then Japan & Hong Kong have been getting my money.

I found out this year! Thats right a Sentai Vergin! I started with Dekaranger and now MagiRanger..... Dekaranger is a pain in the ass to understand!

Found out about super sentai when I saw a link to the super sentai time capsule site in one of the pr sites (can't remember) and it was during the time when Gingaman was around.

It started with watching Godzilla movies every Saturday afternoon when I was a kid. After seeing G smash up fake buildings and model tanks and airplanes so often, it only took seeing one scene of Zyuranger footage in PR to know where it came from.

For me, growing up I used to watch Ultraman, and the dubbed versions of Bioman and Dynaman. I got hooked around the time Megaranger came out.

Back when Power Rangers first premiered in the US, when it's unbelievable popularity was a phenomenon unto itself. It was probably 20/20 that did a piece on Power Rangers, which actually showed some of the Japanese footage which included the Japanese cast. Even a year later TV Guide had an article about Power Ranger second season which made mention of the Japanese origins. And later still I had a friend who told me about Power Rangers from Japan. Still without the resources to search out these Power Rangers from Japan, the knowledge of it's existence was all but forgotten. Then I got online and became a fan from then on.

My dad pretty much raised me on kung fu flicks and Godzilla. Not to mention this spoof dub I saw of Dynaman a long time ago. So I know Asian style directing when I see it.
I think it took less than an episode or two to figure it out.
Then yeah.. this new fangled thing called the "Inter-Net" or the "Web" if you will came into my hands in college.
I did a search for Power Rangers and in the news groups more and more I saw the word "Sentai."
Eventually only a few years ago... maybe four years.. I got my hands on a fansub tape from Fansubs2000 of Kakuranger and yeah.... instantly fell in love, my eyes wide with unbelieable joy.
Then I remember Jeff posting up a clip of Kamen Rider Ryuki. I did a search on Ebay and BINGO... I'm one of Hong Kong's favorite suckers.
