If you watch the dvd features Nolan and Bale praise the new suit.

It's the first one where someone can actually turn their head and not turn their whole body to see >_>

Nolan loves the tumbler and dark knight suit. So that's why they're staying the same.

That's a big thing for batman, imagine fighting crime and not being able to turn your head without having to turn your whole body at the same time, all villains would just need to get behind you
