This afternoon Nintendo hit us with a surprise firmware update for the Switch. It adds a couple of features to the system that users have been demanding, but it wouldn’t be a Nintendo update without missing the mark in a couple inexplicable places. We’ll get to those.
Added a bookmark feature to News.
This feature allows you to bookmark your favorite news items.
What’s the point of this? Well, Nintendo once had a news item that would boot you into Breath of the Wild once you pushed a button, and gave you free meat. You could actually push that button an unlimited number of times, so I exploited it for hours, sold the pile of meat and became Hyrule-rich. Note that news items eventually disappear (I doubt that BOTW item is there anymore) and you can only save a limit of 300.
