Well, I expect the character to die eventually, but none of those hints require it to happen before he becomes an adult. It seems to me like most of the kage's tend to die in their mid-20's/early-30's, anyway, so I can hold onto my hope, though I understand it's possible to not happen.

Gaara died as a 'Kage' but was restored to life and he's roughly Naruto's age.

Again the question isn't if or when Naruto dies, its will he remain dead?

For the longest time, I thought the reference and connection with Spirals was largely symbolic considering all the Konoha ninja have a spiral somewhere on their clothing as a village emblem.

i've thought that too...and the rasengan seems, at least to me, to solidify naruto's link to konoha...the spiral part. the spiral leaf...the random spiral on his jacket..and now the way his "power" jutsu works...totally iconic. his destiny has been written in the sand, as it were...and now...knowing what we know from the manga...just concretes it!
