“Namib” is a 2024 Viki Orignal Korean drama series, with 12 episodes, and categorized as music, musical, and workplace drama. SUMMARY: Is is true that every cloud has a silver lining? You’re a young kid and your mother abandons you. That’s a dark cloud. Your child is hearing-impaired and your husband stays at home to care for him. You are the breadwinner but someone falsely accuses you and you lose your job. That’s a dark cloud for sure. But maybe there’s a silver lining behind those clouds. ♦ When Life Forces Lemons Down Your Throat … In “Namib”, Kang Soo-Hyun and Shim Joon-Seok have a hearing-impaired son. The father chose to stay home and care for his son while the mother worked a full-time job. The whole idea of turning a fired CEO into a mentor for a trainee just seemed too far-fetched. And the way they dealt with the family dynamics, especially bringing a stranger into their home without discussion, was a bit off-putting. It's hard to root for characters when their actions don't make sense. The high rating on Viki might be due to the fanbase of the actors, but overall, it didn't click for me.

As a parent of a child with special needs, "Namib" really struck a chord with me. The portrayal of the family's struggle and solidarity was touching. I appreciate how they didn't shy away from showing the real challenges but also the profound love and support within the family. Seeing Shim Joon-Seok's commitment to his son while facing his own career setbacks was heartening. This drama might not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me, it was a beautiful narrative about family and perseverance

watched "Namib" expecting a fresh take on the music industry, but it was just another story of redemption with clichés. The subplot of Yoo Jin-Woo's abandonment felt like a cheap way to tug at the heartstrings without really adding depth to the character. Also, the revenge plot against Kang Soo-Hyun seemed forced, detracting from the main storyline. I get why some might rate it high on Viki, but personally, it didn't meet my expectations.

"Namib" touched me because of its focus on family and nurturing talent. The relationship between Kang Soo-Hyun and her family, coupled with her mentorship of Yoo Jin-Woo, shows what dedication and love can achieve. It's a beautiful example of how one can create a new path from ruins. The acting was superb, and the story, though dramatic, had a lot of heart. Viki's viewers seem to have seen what I did in this series.
