The question was, "Recent polls showed that a fifth of Americans can't locate the US on a world map. Why do you think that is?" (And why do I think that fifth of Americans are the homeschooled kids?)

My answer, as I use to compete in such competitions would have been, "I think the reason why a fifth of Americans can't locate the US on a world map is due to the fact that our education system is in desperate need of funding. Many schools do not have up-to-date textbooks let alone maps so the children of today are not learning the most accurate information on subjects such as geography. In order for children to learn where the US is on a map we need to make sure the public schools are getting the necessary funding so that schools have books and other educational material that teachers need. We also need to focus on hiring teachers with the proper credentials rather then hiring someone just because the spot has to be filled."

But again, I use to compete in pageants and was taught to have a bevy of answers for such questions. And what's even more funny is that I had a similar question asked of me when I last competed in 1994.

I just want to know who in the hell doesn't know where the US is on the map. Seriously, that's basic geography. A god damned kindergardner would know where the **** it is. What kind of question is that and who the hell took this "poll/study".

You'd be shocked at how many people do NOT know what STATE they're in! When I'm at work, and getting info from someone (IE- address), it's amazing the amount of dumbfucks there are that do not know what STATE THEY ARE IN!! :shakefist And then they give me everything else BUT the state!!
