He is from SHS, but he was also in a one-shot called Avengers: The Initiative Featuring Reptil. Not sure which appearance came first, though.

I think he was created for SHS to fill the space left by Spider-Man (until recently Sony held the animation rights) but then was given the one-shot to get him into the Marvel universe. I have a feeling that he is going get pushed as the central character for better or worse.
