If there is one character Marvel should buy, I honestly think it should be Darna from the Philippines. She deserves more than endless movie reboots that keep retelling the same origin story. The character has been around for decades, yet every new version starts from zero, so her world never grows. That is a waste because Darna has a fascinating set of villains that could easily rival Marvel’s darker supernatural stories. She fits perfectly with Marvel’s tone since she’s not just a typical superhero—her world feels closer to a horror movie, full of monsters, curses, and mysterious powers. That makes her unique.
If Marvel had her, they could finally give her a consistent timeline, explore her mythology, and introduce her enemies properly. Imagine her fighting alongside Doctor Strange or Blade against demons, or teaming with Captain Marvel as another cosmic-powered heroine. Plus, it would add real Southeast Asian representation to Marvel’s roster. Darna’s story has heart, tragedy, and courage. She is both divine and human, which gives her emotional depth that most heroes lack today. Marvel has revived forgotten characters before; giving Darna a new platform could make her shine internationally while keeping her Filipino roots strong.
