The curious thing about the campaign for Tron: Ares is that it doesn’t tell us whether Ares, the Program now speeding on a light bike through our cities and cleaving cop cars in half with his glowy trail, is here to save us or destroy us. He’s introduced by a smug tech bro (because there’s no way to avoid one if we’re setting this in modern day) who strongly implies he wishes to use Ares as a weapon. He touts the Program’s destructive capabilities as major selling points along with the fact that he can’t really be killed because, like Mickey 17, they can just print a new copy of him. But what does Ares want? It’s not like Programs don’t have minds of their own. What’s he here for and what’s his motive? We may have to wait a while longer for the answer. Watch the trailer below and see if you’re better at spotting clues than I am. I hope Ares is a good guy because Recognizers don’t tend to be and there’s one floating through the city. I’m interested in the part where Ares can be printed again if he’s destroyed. That sounds similar to the concept of digital reincarnation, which raises many ethical questions. If Ares is aware of this ability, he might act without fear, which is dangerous depending on his goals. The tech bro in the trailer seems more excited about control than responsibility, which reminds me of real-world tech leaders who push AI development without limits. I hope the film explores that angle. I'm also curious if this means Ares has free will or if he’s pretending to follow human orders for now. Programs in the Tron universe have shown individual personalities before, so this would not be a new thing, but now that one is in our world, the consequences are much bigger.

I still remember the original Tron and how strange but beautiful the Grid looked. I worry this movie might not spend enough time in the digital world. That was always the best part. Light cycles, disc battles, neon cities—that’s what I want to see. I know it makes sense to explore the real world now that a Program like Ares has crossed over, but I hope the movie doesn’t lose the Tron spirit just for action scenes in dark streets. I miss the pure fantasy of it.

I don’t know what to feel. The trailer looks okay, but I can’t tell if it wants to be a Tron movie or a superhero one. Ares feels like a mix between Vision and Robocop. I didn’t like the last movie much, and this one feels more confusing. I hope they explain clearly what Ares wants early on. Otherwise, it will just be lights and noise. I also hope Jared Leto doesn’t act too strange. His roles are always either very good or very hard to watch.

I think it looks really cool. The light bike scenes in real streets were my favorite part of the trailer. I don’t mind if there’s less computer world stuff as long as the action is fun. I never watched the old Tron movies, but this made me want to go back and try them. I just hope they make Ares more than just a weapon. Maybe he will learn what being human means, or decide he doesn’t like us. That would be intense.

I’m fascinated by the idea that a Program might develop its own purpose, different from what its creator wants. That mirrors our concerns with artificial intelligence today. If Ares chooses to disobey, does that make him evil—or free? The trailer hints that he is more than just a tool. There’s fear in the way people look at him, but no clear reason why. Perhaps the real danger isn’t Ares, but the people who want to use him. That’s a theme I hope the film explores.

I’m going to buy this on 4K Blu-ray for sure, even if I don’t like the movie that much. Tron films always look amazing on screen. The light and color effects are top tier. I’m glad they brought in new cast members too, especially Gillian Anderson—she adds class to any movie. I just wish they’d show more of the Grid. That’s where Tron belongs, not in the middle of a city. Still, if the story works, I’ll be happy either way.

There’s something unbalanced about the trailer. It jumps between action and mystery but doesn’t give us a tone. Is this a deep sci-fi story or a blockbuster with glowing bikes? I like the visual design and the concept of digital replication, but the storytelling feels vague. Also, that smug tech guy felt too cliché. We’ve seen that kind of character in almost every tech-based movie. Still, if the panel at SDCC gives us more details about Ares’s programming or past, I’ll reconsider my doubts.

I just saw the trailer and thought it was kind of fun. I don’t really follow the Tron stuff too closely, but the effects were cool. I liked the scene where he destroys the police cars with his light trail. That was smart. I’ll probably watch this in the theater just to see how loud it gets. Jared Leto is not my favorite, but maybe he’ll do okay here.

I’ve watched the trailer several times, and I’m still not sure what Ares is really about. But I find that exciting. I like stories where the supposed weapon might evolve past its intended purpose. The mention of Recognizers got me thinking — maybe Ares isn’t entirely free. Could he still be hunted by the system that created him? Jared Leto usually plays strange or unstable characters, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Ares ends up being more dangerous than we expect. I also miss the classic grid world. I hope they don’t ditch the virtual aesthetic completely just because they want a bigger audience.
