The idea that Date is still not use to the Birth System especially since he needs the manual at least has some realism to it. Since he doesn't know much about the Medal System. It's almost like when Ryotaro needed the Taros' help, until he was able to manage on his own in Liner Form
Like what I mentioned before, the cell medals were there when the Hybrid exploded. It might be that it didn't rain in the vicinity of GataKiriBa... There are 7 cell medals that I can see from that picture.. Maybe even more at the start of the explosion, just being masked from view.
I think there's gonna be a scene of either Ankh looking at the iPad and the Greeed counting their Cores next episode so we know how many of them they have each.
At that time Gamel had: 3 Sai, 2 Gorilla, 2 Zou, 2 Shachi, 3 Unagi, 2 Tako
then+Mezool's 1 Tako
then+Uva's 1 Kamakiri, 1 Kuwagata
And the reason Kazari knocked the doll of Maki's arm is that he thought the number of Core Medals weren't enough and he wanted Kazari's as well, Kazari took the Kujaku Core as his pay.
