Kamen Rider Kabuto - Full Series Talk Up!

I just watched the first episode on Youtube. It was pixelly, but better than nothing. So far it looks promising, if only because the fight scene had some pretty good graphics...

I ended up liking Renge a bit too. True, she was somewhat useless after episode 34 but I think she was the only one of Zect people who never turned against Tendou/Kabuto again after that point.

As for Tendou, I have always loved his character. (Maybe I'm biased because I really like Hiro Mizushima.) Just a little random wondering, if someone else played Tendou, would he have as good a chemistry with Yuuki Sato (Kagami) as Mizushima did? (Hey, maybe you don't think they had any chemistry, let alone a good one, but each to his/her own.)

I would rather have someone else portray Daisuke/Drake too, but I think Toei made a gamble to lure in Kazuki Kato fans from the Prince of Tennis musicals. And it seemed to work. His frequent absences from the show didn't bother me as much as I found Kato to be somewhat stiff in his role. Especially when compared to Airu Kanzaki (Gon)'s excellent performance.

I also found Tsurugi to be the most developed character. He had so many wide ranges for his actions/emotions. From being somewhat of an ass in the beginning, to being a bright eye innocent, to being friend with Kagami, to being really cool and protective of Misaki, and to being the totally final badass worm. Would love to see Yusuke Yamamoto in other stuff. Period.

Yaguruma was perfectly casted. In real life, it seems almost everyone in the Kabuto cast thinks of his actor as an older brother.

Kageyama. Now that one is a little tough. He did a lot of backstabbings, underhanded, creepy stuff, but I had no reaction to his character whatsoever. I didn't hate him. I didn't like him. He was... just there, to kiss up to whomever. I do like his actor as Ren in Ultraman Nexus though.

Riku. Now that is the way an ultimate villian (or a pretended one, as it turned out) should be portrayed. Except for the last few episodes, I really love his character. He was so totally cool and in control. You never know what crazy thing he might do next. (He was sort of similar to Tendou, less the arrogance.)

Kagami. I don't think his character really grew up that much over the course of the series. On the bright side, for the most part I found his character's reactions to be consistant with who he was (naive, trusting, eager to please, etc.)

Mishima & Negishi. Tell me again what they were doing in this show. Seriously, I found them to serve no purpose whatsoever. I did peg Mishima as a bad guy since day one (they weren't even subtle about this). Same with Negishi. And I found Negishi's sort of lecture to humanity to be damn condescending. Let humans sort out their own problems, worm invader!

Dark Kabuto. Poor, experimented upon kid. He was fated to die, of course, but there must be a better way for him to go out than the one on the show.

Overall, it had been a fun ride. The show had its ups and downs but for the most part I was satisfied with what I'd seen. I would give it 7 out of 10.

@ Morose Angel, I must say I really love your new avatar and sig. I never did like Kusaka (his actor is a very different story though), but just seeing these pics I might be inclined to watch Faiz again.

Mission accomplished! Credit goes to Yellow Stranger for the banner/avatar combo and the pictures of Murakami Kouhei are from his official website.

Kabuto got around 6/5 Kicks from me (I can't remember which), Mostly cause I did hate Tendou, especially when it got toward the latter episodes and his actions also wrote out most the characters, and even when they got there zecter's back, still had to worry about when Tendou pulled out the "Perfect" (Hardly) Zecter.

Tsurugi death also brought it down a few kicks as well. I really disliked it that they brought his life to such a high point just to kick him down harshly. The same thing happened with Yuka in Faiz and I hated it just as much then as I did with Tsurugi. The whole Yaguruma disappears for about 20 episodes and then returns as a "Loser" as Kick Hopper really was disappointing as well, kinda made me wish he stayed gone.

The Native's wanting to turn Humanity into them plot was decent, but I wish there was a bit more build up to it. Other than that Native who could use the Zecter's (At least the ones Tendou stripped from everyone), I felt the Native's were a plot point that could of been built apon a bit more, especially if thier plot to transform humans into them was really going to the final Conflict.

Was it me or did i Miss Hyper Gattack? I didnt see him at all. I did though see a clip on You Tube of Kabuto giving Gattack his Hyper Zecter. DId they take it out at the last minute?

Getting back to topic of this post, I did enjoy this series, althought not the best it was still loads better than Hibiki. I still think Blade had the best story, and how they made the movie at the end like an alternate ending made it even better.

It was only used in the Hyper Battle Special. Not in the series, unfortunatley.

7 kicks for me. when it came out I truly liked Kabuto because it was so goddamned COOL. I accepted the fact that it would lose steam here and there but I think it lost the plot in certain points.

First and foremost, I like to see a story, an actual plot in a series. Kabuto had that, but it was so convoluted it didn't make any sense. When they actually came out and explained it I felt it was a rushed job.

Tendou was cool at first, but he just became a bit grating on me after a while. I don't mind proud aloof guys, but at times I felt he was a bit of a jerk. It didn't help that he liked to be cryptic too.

There were a lot of cool concepts in the story that just weren't fleshed out enough, main culprit being the Hopper Brothers. They were seriously badass at first but the moment I saw Yaguruma being slammed by Ucaworm and flying through branches I knew it was gonna be downhill all the way. Once the Hyper Zecter came Clock Up got shafted and after a while even Hyper Clock Up got kicked to one side no thanks to the Perfect Zecter.

But at the end, 7 kicks means that the pros outweigh the cons and all the good points of Kabuto have been covered so this is just my opinion.
