i know it sounds stupid but i got confused on how he scans the cards in this vid:

It's bard codes like a grocery stores when you swipe the food pass the scanner or even like the Den-O belt in some ways.

The barcode is on both sides and he is flipping it up and down because he is having difficulty getting it to scan. He wasn't able to scan his cards, so he got the default team of W and Decade. His friend scans his cards easily, so it was probably the protective cases he was using making him unable to scan his cards.

Yeah, if those cases are too reflective, the laser won't pick up the barcode.
