Kamen Rider back to the US?

4kids or WB.....pthey should make it more adult themed o they can put it on Adult Swim.
Peewee's Playhouse and Saved By The Bell weren't exactly "adult" themed (despite Paul Rueben's...history:P ) though and they were apparently prefectly appropriate for Adult Swim.

BTW, can anyone comment on this "rumor" posted in the thread on JH about Gransazer's near airing on Adult Swim?

eh? What rumor is that? I havent been to JH in a long time.

I doubt Gransazer would last long on a channel like Adult Swim. If they played it at all it would be for a laugh. Its not like the show can be taken very seriously to people who arent already into Toku.

Sorry should have clarified. I'm sure many remember the rumor about Lions Gate licensing Gransazer, nothing was heard after that. Well someone on JH posted in the Dragon Knight thread that Gransaer was slated to air on Adult Swim but was pulled 24 hours before broadcast because the content had changed from what they had apparently seen at NAPTE. Did anyone know about this? Or if it's even true?

It was crazy enough hearing that, but it did make me wonder what the chances are for Dragon Knight getting picked up by Adult Swim/Cartoon Network.

im sure it was because Lion's Gate tried to sell the series at face value first and then when the production began, they decided to make it more serious

Regarding Grandsazer, I doubt that rumor. There's no way Adult Swim would aquire a title and not advertise it at all. Let alone, broadcast it without advertising. Consider it fake.

Regarding Dragon Knight, the show is being filmed for kids. So no, chances are low that it would succeed on Adult Swim. Even if it was being filmed with more of an mature tone, I still dont think it would perform well. The suits, the concept, you can dress it up in blood and cursing all you want, it's still an aquired taste. Not everyone 18+ is going to look at the colored suits and go "yeah I can totally get into this". I figure it would come across as goofy more than anything.

We're already toku nuts because this is the stuff we like, so it's easy for US to take it seriously and want a little more out of it. But to the average joe who doesnt know Toku outside of Power Rangers, it's not going to work.

That's just -my- observation anyway.

Wouldn't it have appeared on schedules and such if it was so close to actually being shown?

Gee golly willickers, as if Godzilla, Gamera and classic tokusatsu eiga never existed . . .

Anyway, I don't think that PR will ruin Japanese superheroes forever. I still think they need much more exposure. The American public won't take chances, not just because these shows are too violent, but they are outrageously racist. They have issues with TV shows with an all-Asian cast (because they want more "political correctness" - They want white, black, hispanic and other races on the show for people to relate to; That's why Super Sentai and other shows have been "Americanized" since 1993). Even if they did bring these shows to the US the way we wanted them, they'd be shown at, like, 6am or some ungodly hour. And remember, Americans still hate Japanese-anything (I guess they can't get over WWII?), especially Japanese sci-fi because they hate Godzilla movies as well ("cheap and cheesy SPFX," "CGI is better," yab-yab-yab). As a lifelong tokusatsu fan (AND I MEAN NOT JUST SUPERHERO STUFF!!!!!), I detest this kind of view.

Yet anime, or rather, crap anime (no good anime) gets brought to the US, and most of them are shown prime-time or late at night. I guess it's because the public can't see "Japs" when they picture "anime." Plus, anime is suffering from the same stigma in the US as animation in general (Anime is looked upon as a genre; In this case, a bubble-gum pop video game genre for teenage girls or older fanboys). It's all a political double-standard.

But you can't try to discourage me from trying. I have always been fighting this **** for YEARS. I'm quite bitter about it.

And crap like this Americanized Masked Rider series is not helping matters much.

I think the Gransazer on AS rumors came up about the time that Gransazer started getting shown on the Cartoon Network... in the Philippines.
