A plane crashes in the Amazon rainforest, leaving young Daisuke Yamamoto stranded without his parents. Soon adopted by a native tribe, Yamamoto becomes a modern day Tarzan, living off the land. However, Yamamoto's idyllic existence is cut short when Gorgos, the Ten Faced Demon, massacres his village, slaughtering everyone except himself. Gorgos is seeking the powerful "GiGi Bracelet", which gives the bearer fantastic power. A witch doctor in the village, sensing the trouble, retrieves the bracelet and gives it to Yamamoto for safekeeping. He then uses his knowledge of Incan science and magic to perform a mystical "operation" on Yamamoto, transforming him into the powerful "Kamen Rider Amazon."

Yamamoto then travels to Japan, where he meets a professor who knew his father. Soon, the minions of Gorgos catch up to Yamamoto, murdering the professor. During the process, Yamamoto saves a young boy named Masahiko, who obliges to teach Amazon (as Masahiko dubs Yamamoto) the ways of the world. Amazon soon receives the "Jungler", his motorcycle. Amazon also partners up with Mogura Jujin, a former henchman of Gorgos, after Amazon rescues him from execution. Together, the two of them face off against Gorgos himself, eventually destroying him in an atomic blast. However, the "GaGa Bracelet", the counterpart of the GiGi, then falls into the hands of the Garander Empire, led by the ruthless Emperor Zero. Amazon continues his fight against evil, eventually toppling the Garander empire and retrieving both bracelets.

His mission now complete, Amazon ventures off to travel the world.

I found interesting about this series the contrast between the child-like Amazon who could only relate to the little kid Masahiko and the aggressively violent Amazon that dismembers things.

I tried to watch a few episodes of this, but I really really don't like anything about it. The whole "I'M FROM THE AMAZON" is what turned me off Gekiranger (and Wild Force too), I think it's cause I never liked Jungle Book.

That aside, the costume is ugly in my opinion, but then again, I might actually sit down one day and watch it all.

Amazon's a great little show, highly underrated. I think a lot of people don't realize just how ballsy it was back then to have a Rider who wasn't an insect, didn't fight the henchmen all the time (especially the first half) and generally didn't follow the standard combat format of "Rider Punch this, Rider Kick that". Hmm, sound familiar?

And personally, I love the costume.

Amazon is fucked. I'd never want to get into a fight with this guy. He's vicious.

Shin could still kick his ass, though.

I agree. As I've said before, Amazon's also one of my favorite designs -- I think the best Riders designs are the more grotesque looking, I think that fits with the concept most. Maybe that's me...

But I will not defend the Jungler. No need for his wheels to be ugly, too.

I wasn't too excited getting into 70's Rider stuff because I really didn't enjoy Sentai's. But I wll say this caught me off guard and I love it. V3, X, and Amazon have kicke so much ass. Gives me alot more respect for Kamen Rider over Sentai aswell.

The Amazon suit is probally the best I've seen from the classics aswell. Amazon's bike is jokes!.

I don't know, if you cut the horrible villain designs in Goranger and the dancing in Battle Fever J, I think they're pretty much straight shows. *shrug* I think what might not help was that they were really a product of their time -- they're so '70s, so influenced by the current trends and pop culture...

But I don't think you'll be liking Stronger much, though. *laugh* Stronger's my favorite '70s Rider series (I think it's really underrated), but a lot of people complain that it's cheesy.
