Tomorrow — which is December 3 from our current perspective — Larry Kenney, the voice actor who played Lion-O on Thundercats, will be the special guest of a livestream hosted by Dynamite Entertainment. What’s the special occasion? This is being dome to promote Dynamite’s oncoming omnibus of the classic original Thundercats comic book, the majority of which has not been reprinted for nearly forty years. The book was launched by Marvel’s new Star Comics line in 1985, alongside the release of the show itself. Each issue was scripted by David Micheline and Gerry Conway and would last until 1988, printing 24 bi-monthly issues in all (switching to a monthly schedule in 1987). Dynamite plans to partially fund the release of the Thundercats omnibus through Backerkit, and we originally reported that campaign would launch in November, but that hasn’t happened yet. Perhaps they were waiting for an opening in Kenney’s schedule. ”Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats! Hooooooo! At long last!” teases Dynamite. “The Thundercats return with beautifully remastered tales that have been out of print for four decades! Originally published by Marvel Comics, Dynamite has uncovered the original stories and remastered them into amazing omnibus editions! Don’t miss out on this limited release!” […]

Star Comics was a fascinating part of Marvel’s history, and Thundercats was one of their shining achievements in the '80s. David Micheline and Gerry Conway wrote some fantastic scripts. I’m thrilled this collection is finally happening. It’s a chance for new fans to experience the stories while giving the originals a much-needed reprint

I didn’t grow up with Thundercats, but I know how iconic it is. Having the original Lion-O hyping this up is genius. Dynamite’s collections usually look incredible, so I’m tempted to grab this just for the art. The livestream should be fun—Larry Kenney seems like such a legend.

I’ve been waiting YEARS for these comics to come back. Dynamite just made my year with this announcement. Larry Kenney being part of the promo feels like the perfect touch. You best believe I’ll be supporting the campaign as soon as it launches!

This is the kind of nostalgia I love—classic comics getting the attention they deserve. I remember collecting the original issues as a teenager. Hearing that Larry Kenney is part of this makes it even more special. I’ll definitely be tuning in to the livestream!

Thundercats has always been a big part of my life. My kids grew up on it too, so I love that these comics are coming back for new generations. Seeing Larry Kenney live tomorrow feels like a dream. Can’t wait to hear him say 'Thundercats, Hoooo!' again
