Everyone,

Myself with the team from Flying Turtle Toys are starting preparations for a new anime convention that we hope to build up from humble origins to a true powerhouse of a show some years from now.

The convention? Anime Syracuse

We are still just getting things moving BUT we want to engage everyone here and anywhere else we can find them to help us get this started right! Stop by the website and if it looks like something of interest please sign up for the event newsletter to keep track of what we're doing and developments. We want to have as many people interested and actively engaged with this new endeavor as possible! This being a JH sponsored event I'm planning on bringing in more tokusatsu to the procedings too so it'll hopefully be a little bit more interesting to the folks who normally attend these type of shows.

So again if you get a chance check it out, tell everyone you know who might be interested to check it out and let us know what you think.

We'll keep you posted on what's going on with the event through the event site, the newsletter that you can sign up for at the site and our anime forum here.

Let's conquer the world together my friends! At the end of it all we'll turn our backs to the sun and huge explosions will go off behind us as we strike cool poses and shout "V"!

Jeff

Jeff, if you do a Toku panel please make it better than the Youmacon Toku panel. No offense to Megaranger and the guys who worked hard putting it together but it fell apart quickly. The biggest problem was their voices werent loud enough so they didnt really dominate the floor. Many people just kept talking amongst themselves and not listening.

Also, they had a video screen set up but no order of clips to SHOW. I mean. It was bad enough that they had no real order of things to discuss. They sort of discussed facts about Toku at random, it seemed. But what was real bad was that they didnt offer any clips or pictures to correspond with what they were talking about.

For example, if they are going to talk about Go Ranger and its cast, it would be nice to actually show pictures and clips WHILE talking about it.

All I'm saying is if you do a Toku Panel that goes into the origins of Toku in all genres and forms, at least provide a proper set up for it. Plan out a list of details and facts to discuss and set up the proper clips and pictures to show during the discussion.

What really blew the Youmacon Toku panel apart was when people just randomly asked questions from no where and derailed the topic of discussion. They even started showing Godzilla clips. That was kewl and all but I began to wonder what madness I had gotten myself into. lol.

Some of it was good. The best part was the B-Fighter clip but it was short and no real info was discussed on it.

Anywho. Yeah. Sounds great. Spring of 06? I really dont know if I will be able to make that. I mean ACEN is in May. And Im not sure what Spring means. That could be February to May even. If Ranger cast ends up going to ACEN Im going to try and go there. I dont know if my expenses will allow the trip to NY to check this convention out.

However we'll see what happens. But at the moment it seems like it might be coming too soon for me to be able to go. I will try to save up for it though. I just wish more people would be thoughtful to the wallets of the goers. This is why I love PowerMorphicon. Its planned for 2007. Plenty of room for ALL to save up for it. Definitely.

But who knows. We'll see. It's great the convention is being planned!

Akiyama, you live in CNY too?? Cool :anime:

Anyways, Jeff, as far as me promoting this, so far I've only had a reaction from one friend, and he was so full of doubts as to this working out in CNY that it makes me want to pimp slap him. But I'll still try to get as many people to come along as possible. I should be able to still convince quite a few people to go along. And I dunno if we'd be able to do this, but I can provide plenty of anime and a bit o' Toku if you plan on playing anything there

Good luck, I know it's possible for a first year to be huge. I don't know how many cons are close to or in NY, but the first year of Metrocon was the largest of any con in the state of Florida, every year it's growing by 2-3x.
