That’s fine — the adventure works on its own. Black Powder and Brimstone is a new indie TTRPG, sold through Free League (the publisher of MÖRK BORG) and compatible with that game. As the name implies, its setting and characters combine the two concepts of pirates and witches. You’re in a region at war. I see a lot of games claim to be “grimdark,” but few actually capture the tone well. Black Powder and Brimstone looks promising, but I hope it avoids the trap of being edgy for the sake of it. A grim setting should be more than just bleak—it should create meaningful conflict and hard choices. I’ll reserve judgment until I see how the game handles its themes and mechanics.

Most of the time, fantasy games stick to swords and sorcery, but the 17th-century influence here is refreshing. I’d love to see how the game handles firearms and whether they feel balanced compared to magic. If the lore is well-developed, this could be a great world to explore for multiple campaigns.

I’ve never played a TTRPG before, but this one sounds cool. I like dark fantasy and pirates, so this seems like something I’d enjoy. But is this a good game for beginners, or is it more for experienced players? If it’s easy to learn, I might try it with some friends.

I’m a little cautious about new indie TTRPGs since many of them promise a lot but don’t always deliver. That said, the premise of Black Powder and Brimstone is intriguing. The blend of magic and gunpowder makes for an exciting mix, and I do appreciate that it doesn’t rely on typical medieval fantasy. My concern is how well-balanced the gameplay is—if magic is too powerful, it could overshadow the swashbuckling combat. I’ll check out some reviews before I commit, but I’m definitely curious.
