Games like "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" set the stage, but there are so many hidden gems that deserve more recognition.

For instance, "Mad Father" blends psychological horror with engaging puzzles and has such a unique visual style. It really captures that eerie, unsettling feeling that lingers long after you finish it. And how about "Oxenfree"? It’s almost like a coming-of-age story wrapped in supernatural elements, but it’s scary in such a subtle, creeping way.

I've also been really impressed by how indie horror games can explore themes and storytelling in such unique ways. "Mad Father" is a solid pick; the art style definitely draws you in and adds to the haunting atmosphere. I’d add "Faith" to the mix, its retro graphics and unsettling narrative make it super memorable, and it really captures that VHS horror aesthetic.

Another one worth mentioning is "Little Nightmares," which, while a bit more on the platforming side, has such a creepy world filled with tension. The environments tell their own dark stories, and the imagery lingers with you long after playing.
