I can't sleep

Badonkadonk

Words words words
It's 7:20 am, and I'm not sure if I've slept at all since I went to bed at midnight. Here's the thing, my mind thinks about a hundred useless things a second all the time, so I have a really hard time falling asleep even when conditions are perfect, but since I've started college and living with this guy named Jeff, I don't feel like I've slept in weeks. Here's the thing about Jeff:
-He doesn't shower, and I think his ability to stink up any area he's in is actually a super power
-He sleeps all day and stays up all night watching anime or something on his laptop, and the light from the screen and the sound from his headphones is really distracting for me. He used to have a social life, so he wasn't here at all at night, but I don't know what happened to that.
-He snores really loud, even when he's awake watching anime. He says it's an epileptic thing, kind of like a seizure. He's also a jackass.
-He farts a lot, and the farts always drift up to my loft bed.

My Residental Assistant makes it sound like I have to prove my roommate is a serial killer before I can get moved to another room, but I'm still investigating that (looking for a glove I can bloody-up and put under his mattress).

Do you guys have any advice? I'm desperate for some sleep. And getting in a quick nap while he's not there won't work, because he's always there.

Kill him, he's useless and if you do it isnt a big loss for society:-)

Or, more realistic, move to a place of your own.

Ah, the Freshman year roommate. Everyone that goes to college has one of those.

I really had no problems with my first roommate, except for the fact that he had strange sleeping habits. I.E., snoring, mumbling in his sleep, making strange noises, tossing and turning constantly.

My suggestion is to talk to him first, and if he doesn't comply, tell your RA.

geezz what a idiot

How come he doesn't like to shower? My guess would be that he probably thinks he doesn't have time to shower or its a waste of time or something else.

Talking with him might be a solution. Awkward for both of you, yes. But maybe it's just the wake up call he needs (for showering at least)

Is there any chance you can arrange a room change for after the Winter Break? My school lets us do that, and sometimes it's really a life saver. There's also the possibility of shelling out a few more bucks to get a single room if you can do that.

My thoughts go out to you Badonkadonk.

I'm off to college next year, and I've been trying to stay optimistic about my future roommate. But that's seriously not fair...you really do have to talk to him and give him that little rude awakening he needs. Is there anyone you can talk to besides your RA?
