How to download and encode YouTube videos

If you've ever wondered how to download all those kickass videos from YouTube and also encode them into a format suitable for the likes of PC or PSP for example, wonder no more as I have the answer, thanks in part to ComputerActive magazine in the UK and the website known as VideoHelp.com

First, visit KeepVid and input the link of the video you want to download. I tried it with the 2nd opening sequence of Boukenger and the file is saved as a .FLV [Flash Video] file.

Next, download a player like VLC Media Player or FLV Player to play the FLV files.

After that, to encode them, download the program known as SUPER to encode the FLV file into a format suitable for your needs altho you need plenty of space and a decently powerful CPU for a successful encode altho this program is supposed to be a lot better than a lot of the paid encoder software out there [and believe me, I've tried a lot of them!]

Anyway, have fun downloading all those lovely YouTube videos and if JCaiser wants to make this a sticky, I definitely have no probs with that! *grin*

Sorry to rain on your parade, Fayt but you do know that the site you mentioned directly copied the look of the KeepVid site plus I believe got most of the information on how to download videos from sites like YouTube there as well.

Just a prob. I recently went into my control panel and unchecked the file ext. thingy.

Well I did what you said, installed SUPER, but when it came to YT files. I got the link and used fileleecher.com for downloading. For saving I actually did this: Digimon-Episode 27.flv. It downloaded and it saved. BUT when I went into Super to convert, it said there was an error.
