How do you convert a WV file into a mp3 file?

After a long time, I finally found a song that I have been looking for but it is in a WV format and can't play in my iTunes. How can I convert to file into an mp3?

WV? By chance, did you mean .WAV?

At any rate, if it's an audio file, you should be able to use the following freeware to do it. It's what I use to crop MP3 files for my ringtones.

I'm with JFC, Audacity is the only way to go when it comes to audio conversion.

Its not a .WAV. I don't even know what it is. All I know is that it only plays in my Windows Media Player and when I go to properties it just says WV File. Not a clip or movie file nor an audio file. So far, when I try to use one of the three things you guys offered, I always not an "error cannot convert" message of some sort.
