Help on making nifty avatars

I need help on making nifty avatars with PS, can someone help a guy out?
Like how Ryoutarou and Takuya does.

Well look for tutorials if you really need help. Though I learned most of what I know by just messing around with Photoshop, really. You can accidentally find things that look cool all the time.

So yeah... just experiment or look for tutorials. Or both. Also, you might look into downloading some brushes and fonts to mess with as well. deviantART is good for that.

It's just abstract grunge brushing. The shiny crystals you speak of are probably c4d renders like the one in my Faust banner. *points to his drop thread/shop*
